I took all the calls and told them i was going for a IVA so they only rang every two weeks.think i was lucky some people have it worse.or you can always change your phone no.good luck and this site is always here for you
Hi, Ali, you've done well getting the bank account sorted out - that's a big thing! yes, stopping DD's for the credit cards is right, feels a bit strange/scary though eh?
our IVA was accepted on Wednesday!! we're went with Mel too,she did very well for us,we'd have had to go BR without her help.
this place and the people here are a life line when things feel such a mess so post as often as you need to.
I just didn't pick the land line up,i couldn't cope with it. my hubby faxed or posted all the letters over to Mel's team. some were very threatening so be prepared for that- it's just pressure for money. we didn't pay anything to anyone once we'd decided to go for the IVA.
if Mel could help us in our dire situation i'm sure she can help you,so hang on in there, take heart - you really aren't alone, you'll get there
Nothing stays the same...everything changes..hang on in there!

Ha! I'd love some of your confidence at the moment but am sure it will all work out fine; i've lost over 2 stone fretting about this ( an iva is highly recommended for a diet! lol!) but also understand it's all part of the process.... I'm a bit soft with phone calls and would probably find it easier to hang up. With regards to the letters what does file under "w" mean? Do I have to write or reply to every letter?
Put in the waste basket [:D]
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Hanging up is fine, but all you need to do is just refuse to answer the security questions. Just say that you don't know that they are who they say they are and you don't give out your details to anyone. They cannot continue with the call and you can quite happily hang up then.

Some people answer some don't, I don't think it's proven to be detrimental to a meeting whether a call is answered or a token payment is made. I sincerely wish you all the best and remember we're all here for you for support and advice whenever as there is usually someone always around.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Hahaha!! Thanks folks,,,, I can only hope I can be as helpful as you guys to the next poor souls that are going through this. I must say I take a lot of reassurance from the fact that you guys are at various stages into an iva, from one month to several years and are full of positivity.

Well i've sent in practically all our details (apart from insurance policies yet!) for assessment day before yesterday so the ball is most certainly rolling now.. The phone is ringing regularly now as well as daily mail from my creditors (which I keep in a pile to pass on) but thankfully we aren't bickering.. How long traditionally does the next step take i.e the detailed proposal to the meeting with the creditors?
