Hi, just to saying hi! we are coming close to our creditors meeting. it's been very difficult dealing with "the mess",creditors etc. it all came as such a shock for me- my hubby was trying to manage the situation by himself.

we are with Melanie's team too,she has a very good reputation, Tina has been brilliant,so patient& calm when we've really needed it- more than once! so, i'm sure you'll be fine. use the board it really helps, there are some great people to offer help&support at what is a terribly stressful time.

it helps to know you are not alone in all this[V].

Shouldn't be too long for you to wait now for that date Rosepetal!

One thing to keep in mind, Rosepetal, once your IVA is sorted and if life throws the odd little spanner in the works .... you got through this and sorted the mess, came out stronger the other side ( and you will) .... so you know, having dealt with this, you will be able to handle life's little blips in the future.

Thank you Rosepetal, yes, all is well in "Foggy Towers". Two and a bit months in and still have money in the co-op account ( first for years). The IVA payment is less than just the interest I was paying creditors, so am financially better off. Can't describe how emotionally better off ..... it's great knowing all the essentials are paid every month, to have cash in the hand for the shopping and a slowly growing contingency fund.

As I mentioned to nepensioner, the other day, I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms at the sudden stopping of all the credit card bills dropping through the letter box --- postie has been able to remove his truss I am guessing, since his delivery bag has got so much lighter. And, on the plus side, I am not responsible for using up so many trees these days :0)

I still have lots of junk come through the door, but that keeps the recyling wagon going!

Hi Alibongo I hope you are keeping busy and calm it just seems like yesterday when I shook all night in advance of applying and getting my iva approved it ends this August I can't believe it. This forum is fantastic I did not know about it until I was 2 years into my iva and still use it now. Anything at all just ask and best wishes. oSCAR

Alibongo - Glad to hear that you made a postive decision about your debt. All i can say wish this forum and support was around when i went down the IVA.

I would not say it meant to be easy - but you will find the stress deminished once all those begging letters and calls stop and you get into the swing of working with cash and no credit :-)

Congrads to you for making the right decision for you.

Foggy, glad to hear you're ok. yes your right about the emotional part, even though we're not sorted yet, thinking of my husband in particular he is much better off emotionally, carrying all that - alone, can't have done his mental health any good that's for sure!

I know just what you mean about the food shopping money! that's a huge one for me!! i've got cold hard cash in my hand every week now for the shopping! i'm still finding that amazing!!! ha! hubby used to pay with a card(leading me to think he was paying it off but he couldn't)
nice to hear you're doing well

Hi guys, my current update is that I have opened up a new bank account and transferred myself and wife' wages into it this weekend as well as most of out essential direct debits (spent the last 2 days on the phone and computer lol!). I am also at the same time collecting all the essential info for Angela (My IP from Melanie Giles). I have started cancelling my credit card direct debits online (hope that is correct?!?) and am now waiting for the respective creditors to start their onslaught for their piece of me (any tips or advice more than welcome on this one!!), must admit i'm bricking it to say the least as although I have got an IP to represent me there is nothing set in stone yet; Was this the same for you guys?

Letters you can pass on to your IP or file under "w". Phone calls ... the wife's tactic was to refuse to answer their security questions (after all .. how do you know they are who they say they are!). I must admit I used to play with them ! I probably got over confident, but got away with it !!!!

Ha! I'd love some of your confidence at the moment but am sure it will all work out fine; i've lost over 2 stone fretting about this ( an iva is highly recommended for a diet! lol!) but also understand it's all part of the process.... I'm a bit soft with phone calls and would probably find it easier to hang up. With regards to the letters what does file under "w" mean? Do I have to write or reply to every letter?
