It was an informal agreement so wouldn't have gone through the courts or anything. I imagine the CSA thought he hadn't paid anything although I would argue now that it's a bit too late to start claiming for it now.

My stepson now has an informal agreement with his ex and this is with the full agreement of the CSA.

Could be interesting for my stepdaughter as well as she has never claimed a penny through the CSA from her ex, it's all done between themselves.

I wonder if the CSA trawl the births register to see who they can try and catch out!

Crazy! Common sense would suggest the CSA only got involved when asked.

You'd think. But then if the missing dad doesn't pay up there seems to be nothing in place to chase it. A Mum I know got something like £5 every now and then and yet it never got chased.

I always thought that the CSA got involved if the parent was on benefits and they then chased the absent one (it's not necessarily the father who does a runner).

If you're both earning and the parent with custody doesn't claim I can't see what it has to do with them.

Absolutely.

I know my ex didn't go to them to claim for any non payment, we are still on reasonably friendly terms and she could hardly argue I didn't pay her anyway.

As for not being old enough to have a 21 year old, I had better not mention the 26 year old....

Regards.

[:D] Mike!

And it's not just dads - a friend of mine split up with his wife and had custody of their son and she's never paid a penny in maintenance. They are now in the process of getting divorced and she wants half of everything!
