Can I just take time to thank the admin and users of this forum for giving me a valuable insight into the IVA process.
I am presently in debt and thought I did not have many options, and in that poison, human nature makes people think the worse. I have kept the debt to myself and over previous weeks have become ill with worry, but having found this forum it has given me hope there is a future away from debt.
To keep me occupied I am now on page 929 of the forum archives, and every page helps me, with wonderful insight from the experts, mostly Michael and Melanie and the support you all give each other.
I hope to be a regular here, and my creditor meeting is set for two weeks!!
Whilst feeling desperate and alone, reading support and advice on here has kept me sane. You might not know it but there are probably hundreds more like me who just scan and take great comfort from the wise words on here

The forum is a wonderful source of support and if you read the blogs you will get a further insight into how posters cope with the restrictions of repaying the debts.
There is a social side to the forum too and new posters are always welcome.
Hello! I like you am new to the forum, well posting anyway, I lurked for a while. You are lucky to have found it at the beginning of your journey. Please look at the blogs and maybe start one, they are so theraputic and you can ramble to your hearts content. Welcome and take comfort in the fact that everyone of us feels the same way. Just remember to hold onto that feeling of relief that you will get after that successful creditors meeting as you will need to pull on that from time to time! Nice to meet you x

I am with Milner Boardman. Well must have the quickest rejection two weeks prior to the meeting as Santander want 6 months free from gambling activity and I only have 6 weeks. Hey ho. Time to knuckle down to a 5 month DMP before applying again
Try & keep positive - I've only recently discovered this forum & I wish I knew about it at the beginning of our iva. ( now complete) .
& you're right, it's great to scan, you don't feel quite on your own as you thought you did!!
IVA COMPLETED & CLEAN CREDIT FILE.
An old bible proverb says this: the rich one rules the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender.
don't be too disheartened ... in another few months reapply - take time to consider your options and which IP would be best placed to represent you when that time arrives - lots to choose from and a good place to start www.iva.com will provide you with lots of experts able to help and support.

I have acted for a number of people who have had historic gambling problems of late, and have never had a case rejected due to the need for a gambling free period. If you are convinced you have kicked the habit, then personally I cannot see what the problem is.
TIX who represent a number of my creditors, contacted the IP to say santander wouldn't approve IVA due to recent gambling (6 weeks). Santander have 8% of debt. Apparently IP thinks it's unwise to continue as TIX will be informing other creditors and thinks I will get a blanket refusal. At moment I can't do anymore, I go to GA, I have self excluded and I have £2k in account that was part of IVA proposal which I haven't gambled.
In my experience this has not happened on any of my cases, and with only 8% of the voting, I am surprised that they did not canvass other creditors in an attempt to get this overturned. TIX will not discuss your case with other creditors, as that would be a breach of data protection.
Which firm are you with - and do you genuinely believe that you have kicked the habit? Only you can decide whether to stick with the firm you have already engaged or try elsewhere. So long as the new firm does not charge you anything to represent, then I guess you have nothing to lose.
