That's what I've heard Amy, which is why I don't fancy taking it. I'd also be wary about taking drugs that haven't been prescribed by a doctor, and I certainly don't trust the call centre staff!

I read in the Daily Mail that the cal centre staff prescribing the drug over the phone were mostly 16 year olds who had just completed GCSE's. What a joke. You are kept away from the doctors but cant even speak to a professional over the phone. I would rather let my immune system do the work thanks.

Same here! If I'm being given drugs I do want them from someone with a little medical training! I won't be having the vaccination either.

Hi Mrs S,
I hopw you are feeling better today. Tamiflu should only be taken within the first 48hrs of symptoms - after that it won't be helpful as your body is already developing antibodies to the virus.
I am on the rota for our local Anti Viral Collection Point and although you may be taken through the alogrythm of symptoms the actual dispensing of any drugs is done by a trained healthcare professional - I am both a prescriber and dispenser as a qualified nurse and ODP.
I would advise anyone with Asthma or other under lying medical conditions to take the tamiflu when symptoms start and also have the vaccination - I have advisedall my staff who are at risk to take it up. If my OH and I get offer it (As we have both hadcancer) we will have it so I'm not saying one thing for you and something different for me.
Take care and get better soon,
Chardonnay x[:)]

Thanks Chardonnay.

I had a real bad night last night so decded to go for the anti-viral (not knowing it should be taken in 2st 24 hours)
Anyway, the collection centre flatly refused to give it to my mum for me because i have MS!!!!
She said i should have seen a GP... GP's wont let you in if they think you have it??
Also i was told by a chemist that if you have astma and are on inhalers then Tamiflu is not advisable as it causes eratic breathing??

Anyway, if i want it or not now, i cant have it. I think i only decided to go for it because my Trigeminal Neuralgia has kicked off again and the thought of trying to cope with both has been pretty scary.

I'll cope. Inhalers are working overtime and i should now have shares in Paracetamol and thats without the other tablets that make me feel high.

Thanks xxxxxxx

That's right, you don't have to worry about driving home the same night - nothing worse if you feel rough.
