Glad you can help him; in my day in the Public Service the Staff people were far from honest brokers - the FDA as a matter of course provided legal advice from a lawyer at the outset; I hope in this day and age, personnel people act as honest broker - but I can appreciate it can be difficult when they are employed by the same outfit.

mmmm....maybe I'll apply for a complaints manager job Max [:D]

I love the type of job I do, as it means I can advise friends also......doesn't make me immune to HR issues though. I'm on the receiving end of a badly managed restrucutre as we speak.

Have to say that my HR is rubbish. I was supposed to have an interview with them when I went back to work in April after sick leave - I'm still waiting to hear from them!

I used to be an activist for a well known nurses union and hated coming up against HR or human remains as we used to fondly know them, the goal posts used to change even though you'd go in with all your preparation done, they'd throw something else in the pile, grr! However since having gone into the managerial side of nursing now i have to say that things have changed thankfully. I hope that Tom gets this sorted out sooner than later it must be a worry with this over his head, i still can't believe that it has gone this far to be honest. Good luck Tom i hope that this comes to an end and your job is safe.
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

Hi All
I have just been told that my MD is fighting my corner with her counterpart at the bank, and it’s now looking better.

Nice to see you getting some employer support for a change - and well done to your manager for fighting your cause. Keep us updated with progress and do try to remain positive as you have a very good case for a grievance.
