surely the debt can't increase over two years

in march 2005 i enquired how much to settle my iva and was told 39,100. since then i calculate i have repaid approx 24000. tomorrow i complete on the sale of my flat and am surprised to hear that 20,000 will be taken to settle the iva. surely the debt can't increase over the last two years. i have not missed any payments

Hi Bob, and welcome to the forum

The settlement figure will have increased due to ongoing IP charges. From the figures you have provided, it looks as if £5,000 additionally has been charged - which does look very high in my expert opinion.

Make sure you query the figures with your IP and compare them to the breakdown you were provided with two years ago. It may also be that the settlement figures you were originally given, included estimates of creditor claims, which may ultimately have increased by the time they were eventually agreed - but best to know either way.
