I always use the Sure Crystal deodorant so I don't get any white marks. Not fussy what shower gel I use and it's Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner at the moment.

Hi there all my frugal friends what positivity shines from this thread, I too have found poundworld, the pound shop and discovered my arty side as well. To those ladies that are buying expensive face cream i am very nearly entering my half century year (a few weeks in fact) and all i use is aqueous cream, 99p for a large 500g tub and it last for ages. I used to use lancomé cleanser but now use those wipes that you can get and generally buy one get one free. I love it when i can find a bargain and now wait till the sales as i did with Ethel Austin and got two skirts for the price of 1. Likewise fingerscrossed having money albeit not a lot at the end of the month and knowing that bills etc are all paid for makes for a stress free life to be honest and i didn't care this year if the heating was on etc as i knew that it was paid for when it was snowing outside and cold. Good luck to all of you lovely people budgeting doesn't have to been a chore but quite enlightening and exciting as well epecially if you find some bargains. As a treat for my partners two kids we are going to take them to Knowsley so i went on the net and found vouchers so instead of it costing £37 it will now cost £24 and as it is a one off treat then that money can be put to good use elsewhere. This is something that 3 years ago i wouldn't even have thought about to be honest and it's amazing what is out there if you know where to go or are bothered to look.

im loving Netto at the moment- you get some really good one off bargains but regular food at really good prices. I bought some Nivea Q10 3 weeks ago for £3.99 which would have cost me 7 or 8 pounds in Morrisons. Iceland are really good for bargains too. I'm amazed at how much you can save just by shopping around. Even once our IVA is finished i think i would still begrudge using Morrisons just because its convenient to shop in one place. Have never realised how true the saying is " look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves"
I'm afraid my clothes come either from Ebay or are the cheapo value trousers etc from Tesco or Asda. I don't go out looking too much any more so that I don't get tempted.
I'm glad I've not got any young kids anymore so that I don't have to find money for entertainment during the holidays and weekends. I doubt I would survive if I did and I admire anyone who does!
Sky is our only entertainment now (sad that we are).

Hi Jan i too shop at Tesco and Asda for clothing love both the ranges to be honest. I didn't think at fast nearing 50 that i would be virtually a step mum to children of 7/11 having not had any of my own this wasn't something that i'd thought about but then along came my lovely gorgeous man and bingo. This is just a one off treat to be honest as it's nearing the end of the holidays. Other times it's visits to the park and beach (weather permitting) with a bag full of sandwiches and cakes (generally brought for a £1) amazing what memories this brings back doing with the children what my parents did with me and enjoying it all the more. I think that i have become more aware of what is out there and is free to enjoy to be honest since being in my IVA and will continue this even when i hopefully successfully complete it. There is plenty of entertainment on SKY and to be honest i would give my eye teeth sometimes to just sit down and watch tv lol. xx

My work clothes come from Tesco (you can't beat their £5 value trousers!) and the rest of my clothes are M & S (cheap T-shirts!) and Next - they do a basics range which is pretty good. My jeans are from there and they are no dearer than some of the ones in Tesco.
Jan, I use Sure Crystal but still manage to get marks on my black clothes!
At the moment I'm using Aussie shampoo and conditioner - it smells gorgeous and makes my hair smell of bubble gum!
Must admit Kallis that we've gone back to basics this summer with the kids. Trips to the swimmimg baths where the kids go free, picnics in the park, bike rides etc. Its kept them amused without breaking the bank and got them excercising at the same time so killed 2 birds with 1 stone. Big difference than Disneyland Paris last year but at least its credit free and they;ve still enjoyed themselves
I'm glad my daughter and my step kids are both adults and so make their own entertainment these days!
Once I'm home from work, that's it - I'm on the computer whilst half watching the TV. Do the washing etc on a Saturday or Sunday, depending upon whether or not I'm at work on the Saturday and then I'm afraid I veg out!

Absolutely Hopeful and amazing what you don't actually see that is in front of you to be honest. I have too started to check for the food reductions, it's amazing just how much you can save if you are lucky. I think that one saturday we had a meal that cost around £3.50 all whoopsie goods and very nice it was too even more so because it cost a fraction of what it would have cost had we paid full price.

I now look in charity shops. You can pick some good quality clothes and of course you are helping the charity.
Also pick up some good books, although I to have started
to use the library again.
I do miss having a social life though. When you do get invites to parties etc its more of a worry about trying to afford it. I am one of these people that find it hard to say no or make up excuses. As nobody knows about my IVA it can be differcult.
Skippy - I never get any marks on my clothes at all, which is why I love it!
Asda usually do good reductions on chickens, not the basic ones though, and we always keep one or two in the freezer when they do.
Our deli counter there sell the big cartons of curry, which are supposedto be 3 portions, for £3 and you can get more than three portions out of them.
I don't compromise on eggs though - they have to be free range, barn reared at a push.

I have 2 children 9 and 4, i have loaned them out to grandparents and their dad for a few weeks this school holiday we too have had picnics, walks with our dog, day at the beach which is not far away. They have not missed going to macdonalds or going to theme parks. they love to play with their friends on their bikes so let them crack on with it!!
The only thing they have grumbled about was our weekly chinese takeaway which cost £11 a week now i take them to a all you can eatr chinese buffet which even has a chocolate fountain and costs us including drinks £15 so it is our monthly treat.
My only luxury now is a Dior lipgloss and i will happily eat beans on toast for a week to replace this!!
Oh and the feeling of fresh bedding what a free feel good thing that is!!
Back to square one but what dunt kill you makes you stronger!!
