I just need to vent some frustrations! My hubby lost his job back in the middle of November. As soon as it happened we applied for housing benefit and job seekers. It has taken until today to get it in writing that he will not get jobseekers! Obviously the council couldn't process the housing benefit claim until we had this, although they had all other info in November. Went to council today and was told we won't find out until after Xmas now if we will get housing benefit! I'm at the end of my tether!! Rent is due on 25th!! I'm not looking forward to telling the letting agents cos I know exactly how they will talk to me! I have also been waiting weeks to find out if we can have an iva paymemt break! Despite letters and phone calls they have not replied yet and we have had to miss a payment! Trying to stay calm for kids, but it's getting hard now.
Anyway just needed to get that off my chest!

Hi Jo,

So sorry to hear about your hubby losing his job in November,I hope he manages to find another job very soon!!..It really is a horrible time at the moment for so many[:(]..and it's terrible that it has taken so long for you to hear about the jobseekers allowance only to be told that you are not eligible[:0], I can understand why you feel so frustrated!!...With regard to your IVA payment break,I would have thought that they would be sympathetic about your situation, seems strange that you haven't had a reply though?..not sure what to suggest other than to keep trying to contact your IP about this...One of the Experts will probably be able to offer you more advice on this!!Try not to let it all spoil your Christmas with your Family though and I hope you manage to get things sorted really soon..Take Care..xx
IVA accepted 13/11/2008..17 payments down,55 to go..

Sorry that you're having such a bad time at the moment Jo. I hope hubby gets another job soon.

If I were you I would email your IP directly. If you haven't got his/her email address you can get it from the find an IP section on the Insolvency website.

Take care, and feel free to vent your frustration whenever you need xxx

Thanks debtmountain, I'm not going to let it spoil xmas, I'm determined to enjoy it. One good thing to come out of this is it'll be the first xmas in years both me and my husband don't have to work!!(That's hotels for you!) I'm just totally fed up with dfd. If you phone you just get someone who tells you to put it in writing or they say they will investigate and call you back and then don't or you get a letter a couple of months later! They were ok when we first started our iva, but now just don't seem to be able ro cope.

So sorry Jojo, about your hubby's job, the housing benefit and DFD being rubbish. Let's hope they all get a move on after Christmas and sort it out quickly for you. Thinking of you both. X

Viki, I read about your hubby being made redundant, sorry to hear that. Hope everything's going ok.

Well on Christmas Eve I got some good news!! We are getting benefits and they will be paid NYE so the rent will be paid!! Such a relief! It will be a few days late, but I think that's better than not paying at all! Hubby's temp job has been extended a couple of weeks too and they are looking to see if they can offer something more permanent! The only downside is that DFD STILL haven't gotten back to me and we are about to miss our second payment!

Ah Jojo, I'm so pleased about your rent. That't one thing off your mind. I really hope DFD sort the rest out for you, their service is terrible! Thinking of you hun. X

Good news about the rent jojo. Hope the job front picks up as well.
