Cheeky thought!!![;)]

I know what you mean though Jim - it suprised me that I was allowed to list it. Not that I'm saying they will accept it next week.

If the creditors offer it as an allowance it's no-one elses' business. It is surprising though when they play hardball on things like petrol for work and feeding a large family.

I don't think I'll ever understand how creditors' minds work. Generally they seem quite generous.

My wife used to smoke and was given a £25 a month allowance but gave up after 6 months, our ip let us keep the allowance as creditors had already accepted that particular expense. It now bolsters an ever dwindling shopping budget!!

I suppose it is the same as some people claiming for Sky when others don't.

We all have different things and whilst I don't particularly agree with a smoking allowance, if the creditors are happy to allow it then fine.

Makes me think maybe I should claim for ciggies even though I dont smoke, [:D][:D]
It would help out the other allowance like the rising cost for gas / electric

Only joking, if you can get it, fair play go for it, feel sorry for people that can't who smoke though, that must be hard and its not a cheap hobby these days.

before I plucked up the courage to go on the IVA path.. I smoked 20 day. when I had maxed out my cards, it was either cigarettes or food, and I chose food. I didn't have £40 a week for fags. 2 months on - I am still stopped, a stone heavier, but pleased I have stopped, money made me stop. If I had been financially sound, I would still be smoking!
IVA accepted 31.05.11 and 2 reviews DONE!!! Wow,nearly approaching my third. can't believe how time has flown!
December 2015 - made a one off payment and made a settlement of the IVA!! recieved certificate in May. - all completd and now I can get on with my life

You were very lucky - not heard of anyone having that much before.

I know, as when I was applying for IVA - some companies wouldn't accept a smoking allowance. But I suppose at over £6 packet say for fags - it's becoming a very expensive habbit!.

Given that smoking is a choice it is unusual to have it as an allowance. I live chinese and indian food, but dont get a special allowance for that!!
