We use shin for stew which hubby has cooking all day when he does it.

My friend said she was doing her beef for boxing day in the slow cooker and I just thought how?? but don't like to ask as I don't always admit cooking isn't my forte!

Hubby uses his slow cooker a lot. Meats are coked in sauces/ gravy and are always tasty. He experiments a lot and I can honestly say, our meals don't taste the same. The lasagne is gorgeous...hmmm and I wonder why I'm overweight!!

ah but I've never known so I'll give it a go. I can cook a roast whereas he can't but other things just don't interest me mainly because I don't eat them I think. x

When cooking beef go to the local butcher!! Buy shin or skirt & leave for as long as possible - 6-8 hours. I don't brown this meat to be fair doesn't need it as it breaks up & makes a rich gravy.
Don't flood the cooker with water as the veg adds water as cooking, a few 100mls will be fine!!
The road is 72months long starting September 2010.

If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

My friends often say they cook their beef in it? anyone know how? I've not googled it but do fancy it, anyone tried it? x
I slow roast beef in mine in a knorr beef stock mixed with 150 ml red wine and a can of chopped italian tomatoes. Cooked on high for 3.5 to 4 hours it is superb.
