How ridiculous is this - if an existing sky customer wants to upgrade to sky HD inc sky+ its £249. A new customer can have it for £99!!

Remind you of the advert "brand new customers only"????????? [;)]

Totally ridiculous - Orange operate a simlar scheme. Exiting customers don't qualify for any of the decent offers only new customers. X

Hey Julie, I had this problem with Setanta, call them up and tell them you want it at the cheaper price, that's what I did and they altered my d/d. I know that's not the same, but no harm in asking! Viki X

Just had an idea. When I used to work as Sky as an engineer I used to tell customers to threaten to leave they will then transfer you (hopefully) to there retentions department and they should do a deal. Worth a try!!!

I've phoned Sky - they told me if I cancel,ee cannot take out a new account at same address to take advantage of the offer! Even if the account is in different names - yeah right!

Well as the offer has come through an independent shop selling on behalf of Sky, I beg to differ.

If I have a contract from this shop stating that for £99 they will install and deliver HD and sky+, not a lot sky can do about it.

Oh its all sent to try us eh [;)]

Hi swans girl

that does sound daft about sky, what if you wanted to cancel yours and then you had an older child living at home or a lodger and they wanted to have sky, are they not allowed?

and a BIG CONGRATS on your fantastic news, im very pleased for you.

2yrsin - I can afford HD as I had a small windfall recently. IVA is only in hubby's name and so I wanted to treat him. I also penny pinch so much to try and build up a fund. Like you all do I imagine, buying reduced goods etc.

Thanks for the congrats -it's just about sinking in - exciting [:)]

HI swansgirl, you would think in the current climate they would want to keep as many customers as possible!! I'm sure if you complain they would do a deal to keep you x

Swans-girl is spot on. Loyal customers get nowt whilst new or lapsed customers get incentives.

I cancelled Sky in April 2007 when starting my IVA. They constantly write to me offering all sorts of deals. Their latest one is a free Sky Plus Box plus free installation if I sign up for at least the basic package by 29 June. That’s worth £209, £149 for the box and £60 for installation but does anyone one ever pay the full amount? I’m tempted as I’m considering getting back Sky for when the football season starts again, but I’ll probably bottle out!

I called sky and told them i had to cancel due to not earning enough anymore, they said they would give me movies free for 6 months to see if the situation gets better then i can cancel [:)] if this was not great enough i realised at my bank they still charged me £35 instead of the £21 as promised, i rang and said i was so upset and i had been charged for going over in my account due to them (i didnt) and they have now given me a free sky+ box and installation [;)] so now i pay £21 per month for sky+ and all the movies till nov, then the package just goes to basic. Its always worth a try complaining, i was so chuffed and everyone at work is jelous [:D]

That's a great deal worryhead! We've got sky but have had it more years than I care to remember. Got Sky+ and multiroom as well for the daughter. I might have to phone them and threaten to leave so perhaps they'll offer me an HD box!

I know one or two people who have phoned up to cancel and been offered various stuff. Not as good as yours though!
