We have an allowance of £392 for 2 adults and 1 child. I spend about £80 per week in Tesco and would do a bulk shop of meat at the beginning of week. Of course we also spend during the week when we have run out of milk bread etc.

I have recently switched from Waitrose to Asda and last week I got a week's food and two pairs of ballet pumps for a little under £40. I always look out for the value range and the multi buy deals. As I'm on Weight Watchers I have to eat lots of fish, fruit, vegetables and general healthy stuff and I cannot believe how far my money goes.

This is interesting, we obviously get well under!!.

We get £383.00 per month for two adults and two children. Usually we have to use our contingency money to make up the overspend!!
F&F accepted 12/8/13 - Awaiting Completion Certificate :-)
Thanks to everyone for your support. Could'nt have done it without you.

When I started the CCCS guideline for 2 adults, 1 child was £406, according to my IP.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Waitrose is one shop I wouldn't use (not that there is one near me! - much too expensive!

I think we get £340 for three adults.

we get £488 for 2 adults and 2 kidsm we could easily spend that if we wanted to but I always mealplan and am inventive with our meals to make it stretch, I could, if I wanted to, get away with £40 a week, when we were servicing our debts, this is what I was spending per wk on food for the 4 of us and managed somehow! so our budget now feels like a luxury and allows me to save some of it towards a better contingency

We get an allowance of £440 per month for 2 adults and 2 kids. We challenged our original amount as we found we were having to use the contingency every month so we spoke with our IP and the figures were reassessed and increased - works ok now but still tight on a 5 week month. Like other posters have said, things are going up and up so hopefully we'll be allowed an increase at review.
F&F approved May 13 - just awaiting Completion Certificate - moving to a new Debt Free life !!

Thanks for all your replys, its really intresting to see how other people are coping and on what amount.
Ive noticed our supervisior always seems to put in the phrase" I only spend X amount" so it must be ok!
I did ask when the budget was worked out and was told last October 2010, is it me or has things gone up since then?

I just want to make sure we dont end up trying to survive on a budget what gets tighter and tighter over the next 5 years. Our supervisor says we can take a paymet break if we get into a situation where we need to buy anything big ie car repairs etc, thats ok but you just end up being in the IVA for much longer catching up with missed payments.
Like ive always said from day one for these things to work you need to be able to live a reasonable life?

many thanks

Baldy

hiya,
i was just browsing msn, when i noticed the sainsburys "feed a family of four" for £50 per week.
it has a weeks worth of recipes, breakfast lunch and dinner, then if you go to sainsburys web site all of the ingredients needed are listed in one place, just click and deliver. and it takes away the hassle of wondering what to make! i might give this a go.

I saw it last night but as it is for a family of 4 and there are only 2 of us it doesn't work because you have to buy the size of packets etc to make it work. Don't think some of the stuff will last 2 weeks [:D][:D]to do it over that long. Seems like a good thing for family's though.

I am the same - just been looking at the Sainsbury thing online and there is only 2 of us so doesn't make sense to buy everything on there. Although I would only be interested in the dinners as I get a free lunch in work anyway and never eat brekkie.
Some of the dinners, I could probably make last over 2 nights. I do that now. I find for 2 of us, I can spend approx £50 a week and my allowance is only £150 as I am technically on my own but my partner stays over a few nights. I just have to use from other allowances.
