There is a neat little trick to find out what the guidelines are from CCCS - if you go to their website and put in ridiculous amounts for each item - a pop up window will come up and tell you what is considered reasonable (that way you get to see the guideline figures) I only discovered this last ye...

I had an even bigger problem with my company, they actually paid my entire month's wages into the wrong account!! Luckily my company paid me again into the correct account and said they would claim a refund from my old bank - guess what!?! - the old bank refused to refund the money. I was made redun...

Thank you Melanie, It's a tough time to get a job in the industry I am in so I decided to try to set up on my own. It's not easy, I'm not getting as much work as I would like, but I am managing to keep the wolf from the door and I am truly hopeful that next year the economy will turn around and I wi...

I would like to share a few (hopefully inspirational) words with you if you are one of the people on this site just looking for some help. As we approach Christmas it reminds me of exactly a year ago when I was in a desparate situation. My debts were completely out of control, I had nobody to talk t...

I would like to rule out one of the 'charitable' organisations because when I had my IVA through CCCS - they were impeccable and totally honest. At one point my manager rang (rather embarrassed to be honest)to ask me for the names of my two cats and tortoise so that the file was complete. They did c...

When my IVA was originally proposed, I was allowed to keep a really nice convertible car worth £20k on the grounds that it was befitting my status and job I was doing at the time and was important to maintain my image in the industry I was working in. Not one of the creditors questioned the car - I ...

My understanding was that when an IVA was completed the creditor owes nothing whatsoever to the credit company. MBNA are reporting that even though my IVA has been completed and the account is 'satisfied', they have put a 'warning flag' on my credit file saying 'partial settlement' - is this permitt...

I have had some success with creditors amending my credit files. I wrote to all of them enclosing my certificate of completion. American Express were the most surprising - having been the most awkward at the original IVA stage, with the credit file, I simply got a letter 'apologising for the problem...

My IVA is completed and no former creditor has any rights to any of my money from now on. If a million pounds went into my former Barclays account, where they had to write off a lot of money - they would not be entitled to a single penny - end of!

This is a common practice, if they can get you to agree to a secured loan - it could then not be included in your IVA and they could force sale on your house to recover their money. Thanks but no thanks would be my reply!

Yes I phoned the Insolvency Registrars office in Birmingham (not the 0845 number, they don't have a clue) - I didn't even give my name though, I just asked a general question, how long will it take for my name to be removed? and they confirmed the 24 hour deadline I refered to.
