Thanks Melanie, Have spoken to my IP about this and sorted it out - I'm not going to put any more details on the post now but thanks for the advice. For others reading I am a bit miffed about this generally. Fair enough I should have disclosed this but a bit shocking to have someone ring me. I'm cha...

Melanie,
Sorry - another question!
If I have a higher income than my partner does that mean I should put in more than 50% of the bills as my expenditure?
I pay exactly half the bills at the moment.

Melanie, You're quite right - I should have sorted this ages ago but tried to minimise the impact on my partner. She is self employed and income is irregular so this is probably going to get very complicated now! Anyway I pulled myself together and my son is playing in the garden with our puppy now ...

Hi Skippy, Thanks for that. Unfortunately I may just have bankrupted myself by putting this post on! I hadn't told my IP about this yet and had a phone call saying they were monitoring the site and realised who put the post on. Now I may have to include my partners details in the IVA and if that mea...

Hi, I am in a similar situation and currently contribute to a SAYE scheme. I am proposing an IVA and my IP says I must stop contributions as the creditors will not want me putting money aside in this way. Luckily for me it's only a small amount so I'm not that worried. However if you have any money ...

I opened a Basic account with Nationwide in 10 minutes - they were brilliant.
No chequebook or debit card but you get a cashcard and Internet Banking.

Hi, I need advice on the above question. I am proposing an IVA and my creditors meeting will be in April sometime (hopefully 1st and last meeting!). However I currently live with my fiancee who owns the property and I pay rent. I have a formal rent agreement and this is disclosed in my IVA expenditu...

Louise, I have 22 creditors (OMG) and have had loads of these types of letters and phone calls asking me to do a deal direct with them. I wrote a generic letter back saying no and to contact my IP about my situation. For phone calls just be firm and say your advisors are telling you it is not approp...

Like Tidar I tried Nationwide and they wre exceleent - took 10 minutes. However bear in mind you can only get a basic account - this means a cashcard (no debit card) but you do get Internet Banking. As long as you can cope without a chequebook and debit card then I would recommend them. Also you can...

Hi Anna, I'm going through the process with TC and Accuma right now and what Kezza says is spot on. TC do a lot of the preparation work and you pay them effectively 2 of the payments you would pay during an IVA. What I did was stop paying everyone (on TC advice) and then paid them instead. It's full...

Hi, I have a problem with a savings account I had with Scottish Widows that I asked to be closed. I sent them a letter to ask them to send the funds to my new basic bank account with Nationwide. they ignored this and sent it to an old account with HSBC lcosed years ago. HSBC are a creditor in my pro...
