Hi there.....definitely 6 years after the IVA was registered. But do make sure you check your credit file with all appropriate agencies. I had to write to many creditors as they had incorrect dates regarding settlement of the debt etc or even date IVA was registered.

To be honest Mel I have no idea, I don't believe so - the company I worked for which was UK based failed to pay a couple of bills for rental, utilities etc - the lease was under their name - but I'm been chased as they knew me personally.

I have just received a letter from a debt recovery firm based in the USA. I worked over there for a while, it would appear that the company I worked for at that time didnt pay some bills approx $500....and are now chasing me for the debt - should I pay or what is the possibility of them demanding it...

Mel and her team have helped me out today by writing a formal letter - hopefully they may take notice of this - timing in my opinion is excessive and should have been dealt with sooner (insolvency registrar). If this doesn't work I will start with a formal response quoting the Data Protection Act to...

Hi, I am sure this has been answered many times but can't seem to find what I am looking for: 1. My F&F was proposed in July 09, accepted in Dec 09, and I finally received my completion certificate Feb 10 (roughly), yet my name still appears on the insolvency register....who's responsibility is it t...

Hi Wooster, I was made redundant a few months ago without any redundancy package - I have struggled to gain employment as many organizations have undertaken financial checks and as a result, had a number of offers withdrawn due to the fact I am in an IVA - even though at the time I had only 6 months...

Thanks Melanie, I am getting increasingly frustrated here in the UK by most employers attitude and not being given a 'second chance' as you rightly point out. I have been honest with all the potential employers only to be rejected through my financial woes. Unfortunately, the majority of vacancies a...

Thanks Michael, I have been in touch with my IP offering a F&F due to the redundancy (all though it's not the full amount) and are awaiting this to be proposed to the creditors. I have had a couple of job offers withdrawn due to my IVA hence looking to set up as a limited company and try my luck els...

Im sure this has been answered on the forum many times, but for clarity. Am I right to assume that although still in an IVA I can set up my own limited company ? and that I can be a director of that company ? I also need a business bank account ? Any ideas which banks to start approaching seen as I'...
