Well after nigh on 3 years in IVA, variation to accept a F & F payment was accepted. I haven't posted for a while but have kept browsing the forum and has helped immensely during this time. In short 3 years ago I had debt of £72k mainly due to gambling. My IVA was set up with payments of £675 per mo...

To add it was the creditors not the firm who rejected my Original IVA due to not having 6 clear months. Perhaps different creditors have differing rules

There's a way forward! I too had gambling debts over £70k with a £15k recent loan. My first IVA was rejected by creditors as they wanted to see 6 months clean bank statements from gambling. I went on a DMP then was accepted after the 6 months. I thought there was no way out of the hole I had dug, bu...

Accepted into IVA March 2014 which was non-protocol. One of the agreed amendments was equity would be dealt with by PCIVA guidelines (ie protocol compliant) Was concerned as led to believe the new guidelines stated a secured loan could be used to release equity. IP has stated it at his sole discreti...

I'm with Milner Boardman and always reply same day and very helpful. I had a loan for 4 months before my first application and creditors never brought it up. And it was obviously less than year when finally accepted after 6 months of no gambling. The IP said as long as could prove loan was for debt ...

I too got into trouble gambling with debt/ income far worse than yours, also with a recent loan. I was initially refused IVA as they wanted to see statements free from gambling for 6 months. The second application sailed through and I am now 9 months in and best thing I've done! There is hope, pick ...

I was allowed to keep my whole personal injury claim, not just pain and suffering.
My IP made sure she wrote it in proposal to exclude like bankrupcy but has since said I would have kept it anyway. So not all is lost

Advice for all people who have an ongoing Injury Claim whilst taking out an IVA. Be upfront with your IP and ask for it to be excluded in your proposal. I did this on advice of the forum, have now accepted an offer and it is mine to keep! IP said if it wasn't mentioned under proposal it would have b...

I'm currently in IVA and all my debts were due to gamblimg! My first proposal was rejected as creditors wanted to see 6 months non gamblimg activity on my statements!
I did this and the IVA was accepted. Now 7 months in and going well and not gambled for over a year!

Thanks Mel but I think I'd rather get through 12 months and then speak to IP. Hopefully it's just getting used to spending budget properly!

Foggy - too true. I live by percentages. 10 weeks and I'm 10% through :)

Exactly my thinking at the time - I'll win it back! It never works! If an IVA is right for you, gambling won't stop you being accepted. I had the same worries but just had to prove I'd stopped to my IP and most impotlrtantly myself. Best thing I've ever done, struggling with the budget, but happier ...
