Yeah - advice from informed sources is a must. Just knowing that the offer was reseasonable and that others had achieved a full & final settlement was a huge help!! I take comfort in realising that the fact that I started my IVA 2 years ago and it was the right choice for me - God Forbid, I had stru...

Good News - of sorts Variation meeting held last week and it would seem the creditors or people who now hold my debts "bit my hand off" for the 25p in the pound offer - only one didn't reply. So now I have to start paying back Dad and My brother rather than IVA - once the peperworkis finalised etc. ...

I agree - it was too easy to get into trouble. While going into the iVA process I thought long and hard about how I got there! Anyway - with some research I have realised some things don't add up - why Barclaycard prepared to keep throwing money at me. - when they wrongly thought I was "a homeowner"...

OKay - against my better judgement - BUT in the interest of getting clear and having a free start when the baby comes, I have agreed with my IP helper to offer my creditors 25p in £ so the meeting is early in August - please wish me luck. Luckily my family is Australia have been able to come up with...

2) My c70 year old stepfather will be given the facts on IVAs (and DMPs) and I can sit down with him and read the forms before he makes the next step. He has got himself into a mess and accepts this. He doesn't have any luxuries (well £2/week at the bookies). Maybe you should give the facts about e...

For the record - SKY is a cheap form of entertainment - and can work out cheaper per month than DVD's and or as a family going to the cinema. I would have it in my budget if it was allowed. A possible compromise could be that you have to cut back to the base package and/or give it up for a year " to...

Rob/Paul Thanks for your opinion BUT I stress as somebody that has been in an IVA for nearly 2 years - it aint easy and I feel that at least (if not all) 95% of people on an IVA would rather not be that situation. What would you rather do, put them in debtors prison until somebody pays to get them o...

"I can't count swimming lessons for my children" thats disgusting - I suppose being an Aussie I would consider swimming lessons an essential part of life... Just wait to (GOD Forbid) somebody's kid drowns then they sue the IP for not allowing swimming lessons - I would certainly appeal that decision...

Thanks BlueShoes - yes EBay and baby specialist charity shops will be high on the agenda. BUT somethings you just have to buy new (as little as possible).

I suppose I really need to know what an IP and creditors would see as reasonable

thanks for the advice

Well afftere discussions with my IP and helpful advice from Melanie - I am calmer and I am hoping top continue my IVA - If I can get it to add up and then with a variation meeting etc etc. so a quick question(s) and I feel the smart answer will be "only you can tell how much you will spend" but here...

Thanks Melanie, Looks as if I will have to do a lot of the "paperwork" myself - in so far as write up everything( present the story completely rather than the wish wash that variations seem to be -from what others have posted on this site. that way the "IP helper" just rubber stamps it. I mean fixes...

No joy - the IP ( well the helper on the phone) says that they won't do a variation metting that offers less the 25p in the pound. So looks as if I will enjoy the summer , wait for Baby to be born, thank my friends in the Uk for their support over the last 2 yaers etc, and then go to Australia - usi...

How far abroad? - your case has similarities to my own - in that I am trying to struggle thru an IVA - when in reality - I should have declared bankrupt and then flew back to Australia and started again... Now I am in the proceess of trying to offer my creditors, via my IP a deal to end my IVA early ...

Thanks Andy and Melanie, Rather than "the head in the sand" attitude I have at the moment - I will speak to my IP early next week - when I am calmer - and lay "my cards on the table" and see what we can do - I hope they can come up with a compromise... BR does seem so final.. I have paid nearly £600...

Okay - will try and speak to them next week. One more question do they have any leeway in reducing my payments without going to a variation meeting? - which of course would mean less money in the pot from more IP fees and posibly mean it could fail in the long run or indeed I end up paying a lot mor...
