Thank you for all of your answers. As everyone says it always helps just to know others are there in similar situations. In my proposal it says the maximum sum payable (by me) is 100p in the £ plus statutory interest. So, Andy would seem to be right when he says if the lump sum isn't sufficient to p...

Andy's response seemed to suggest it was interest on the full £54k for each year. Either way, I've only paid off £18k in the first three years (income has increased, so amount I'm paying has gone up considerably, so on target now to repay about £40k total, before the inheritance, over 6 years). Even...

Oh, god, that's horrendous, and worse than I'd thought. It just seems that by paying off the full amount, I'm still penalised. I've had the IVA for just over 3 years, so will have about £13k of interest now on top of the amount I owe. I would probably at this point have been better with a dmp or som...

Hi all, I recently asked a question regarding an inheritance that I should receive in a few months, after my mum died last year, and am now resigned to it all going into the IVA. The good news is that I'm hoping it will reduce my remaining 3 years to about 18 months, by which time I will have paid b...

Thanks Melanie, that is actually a good point. I have actually checked my original figures, and it says that the debts were less than I thought - £54000 and that fees are about £5000. So can you confirm that once I pay off the £59000 then that's it, ie no interest is added to the debt?? I calculate ...

A question about inheritance: I'm just about 3 yrs into a 6 yr IVA. Original debt c £70k. I've paid £17k over 3 yrs, payments have gone up as I've had a good promotion, so on target to pay another £28000 over next 3 yrs. Total repaid therefore will be around £45k. Sadly, my mum died recently, an...

thank you for these responses to date, as Lord Soth says, I have paid £21k already, and in theory have another £21k to go over 3 years, so I am hoping that an offer of £15k in F & F will be ok. That really is the maximum that my brother can give to me, so if not then I'm just going to have to stay o...

I am 3 years into a 6 yr IVA, via CCCS. My brother is emigrating, and is worried about my financial situation, as I'll have no other relatives here once he is abroad, so has offered to give me some money if I can use it to pay off my IVA. My original debt was about £72k (oh, god, that sounds horren...

Thank you for your prompt answers. I didn't want to criticize CCCS as they seem to be highly reommended, including by the creditors, but over the past couple of weeks as we have tried to get the proposal finally put together (after about 3 months) I have lost confidence in them. To be fair to them t...

Please help me, I have spent today in tears trying to make sense of what we should do. Basic scenario, live with partner, in rented accom, having sold house a couple of years ago cos couldn't afford the mortgage any more (having remortgaged to try to pay debts etc, you get the picture). Minimal equi...

Thanks so much for the positive answers, I feel much better now, that I was right in the first place and that we are doing the right thing. Although there is no other solution anyway other than bankruptcy and I would prefer to avoid that, even though some of our friends say it would be easier on us....

Can someone please give us some of your thoughts on this. We have just started the IVA ball rolling, with CCCS(IVA). has anyone else gone through CCCS? And now having read the forum posts, I am starting to panic. We owe about £65k and are in a privately rented house, so no house to sell. We have a c...
