I hope someone with some knowledge can help me out here. I've had an IVA previously and this is now cleared but following the completion of this my company found 5k difference in expenses over a 6 year period that I'm not entitled to (relates to fuel). On working it out I agreed that it was overpaid...

I guess theres a bit more to it as well

Now off of both forums and stopped posting. Probably would of been wise if a bit more information was given.

My gut feel is that it could of been someone a bit lonely and looking for attention who did have money issues.

Nowhere to turn but Mel, SC, Moneysupermarket, IVA.co.uk etc etc.

If you spent as much time trying to solve the issue over non stop repetition on forums then you would of been a hell of a lot closer when you started posting 22 days ago on moneysupermarket. Thats not judging, thats just fact.

1) no defaults 2) real debt of 25k 3) 70k per annum job 4) 18k tied up in another business You don't need bankruptcy or an IVA. You need to speak to your creditors, say you've hit financial difficulty, ask them to freeze interest and put together a plan. This means that 5) you will never lose your k...

I personally found one of your posts disrespectful Ox but its not relevant. You should just concentrate on getting your head straight around a lifestyle change and doing whats right by your children and wife so you can clear your debt and move on.

I had two kids, slightly less wage and similar valuation of mortgage so I'm guessing that both our affordability wouldnt be too far apart either.

Overall my point is this is not the end of the world. he can get out of it succesfully and shouldnt be a massive knock on his family.

On a 25k debt, I think it would be more like £150 to £200 on the IVA....mine started at £283 and was over twice the debt.

yeah thats what I mean what is your current budget and how much funds have you allocated for food etc.

If the 10k which could be higher is a gift then your debt is 25k, I'm absolutely positive someone can help you.

I'm thinking there maybe options of consolidating your debt, utilise the 10k and just have one big debt/loan/remortgage.

With some cutting back you could potentially then avoid any debt plans or IVA's with just a change in lifestyle.

When you say reasonable living budget, what is the value on that?

In what way are you worried? We had to budget, we had to watch what we spent and adapt our lifestyle but I don't think if you asked them my kids even noticed.

I never had a 10k start or anything like that, that you have availability to that could give you lots of good options I suspect.
