Part of the confused.com application for home insurance, 'Have you ever been declared bankrupt or in an IVA'. What the hell has that got to do with it and surely if a premium is unpaid then the cover stops so they don't loose out anyway and not at risk! What a weird world with some weird people! The...

Hi everyone. Ok, so I've recently used my last cheque from the Co-Op bank although have not had a delivery of a new one. Could this be an oversight and I need to order one or, they are on my case and not letting one be dispatched? I would call although, would there be a risk of me being credit check...

Wow, what a journey. From relying on cards and loans to now having nearly nothing to get by on is a wake up call. Entering 3rd year soon and without doubt this is hard. I am starting to see a tiny light at the end of the tunnel. The good things are, I am not stressing over trying to find a minimum p...

It's not that awful. Stick with it. Any extra income (over your confirmed limits) will be handed over, that's part of the deal. However, ensure your income is still within the limits as per your written up agreement or your monthly payment may go up. However, if your outgoings also go up then all's ...

Just to add, I would say Co-op or Barclays are the winners at this point in time. I do not see why we should have to pay any extra to the so called chargeable accounts as having a basic account for everyone should be made available. Any very small costs of running such an account can surely be offse...

I am always confused and agitated that we are not allowed a regular current account with an IVA with some banks. If you have no overdraft facility then what's the problem? And as for not being allowed a savings account, is that a joke or what? For your non creditor banks, it's not like we rode in on...

However selfish this may seem, I personally would not take voluntary redundancy at this particular time in my life under an IVA. A few years ago under different circumstances, I would have jumped at the chance. In fact, if my own role was at risk, I would now try and find another role in the same co...

Thanks again Foggy. Yes, grateful to receive this and to be honest, it is due, but could sway the annual review either way. Either it is taken into account and swallowed up or considered used for the intention it is awarded (which it is as with a child with severe autism, things are not easy and ext...

I have a question regarding this issue. I am not (yet) being made redundant although should this happen, are you normally entitled to the 6 months equivalent salary whether or not you find another job or is the full redundancy taken assuming I walk straight into another job? Thanks.

Hi Lesley, I think they are, although will have to check. Might have to dig the old paperwork out although tried to forget it with moving on and all that. I was a bit unhappy with announcing I am in an IVA in the first place although I guess I will have to submit something to the local council offic...

Hi, we claim housing benefit although to continue this (after 3 years), the Council suddenly require information regarding our old (pre IVA) Natwest bank accounts from two years ago which also form part of our IVA. I guess they want this to make sure we do not have a huge stash of money there or oth...

Thanks for the information and advice everyone, it really is appreciated. I think I'm going through a bad spell as the temptation is to think what I could have done better and should have 'woken up' a lot earlier and therefore not be in this position along with now wanting a better life for my famil...
