I have been working as a school caretaker for the last 13 years , but have been given my reduancy notice to finish on 31st August, I am a bricklayer by trade and I intend to go self employed from September.

Thanks , the redunancy will be about £7,000 and unfortunately I am not entitled to any of my pension untill I reach 55 I am 51 now, The debts are in my name but we both agreed to take them out. I am a brickie by trade so am going back to that self employed so have got no idea what my earnings will be.

When you are finally out of debt, I am 8 months into my IVA and at the moment the end seems like a lifetime away , I am trying my best to stay positive and keep trying to think of things to get me out of this sorry mess but as yet hve not come up with anything , just have to keep plodding on with it.

I am employed by Suffolk county council at present but am getting made redundant by them in july, I am a bricklayer by trade and have no choice but to go self employed again , have spoken to my IP about this and they said I can keep the redunancy pay off to enable me to keep up with my IVA payments ...

Just had a letter from this company , they knew the exact date that my IVA was accepted and they are wanting me to contact them for a better solution . Does anyone know anything about this company and what would you advise ?

I know I am a bit of a pain asking all of these questions, but here comes another one. Once you have signed up for an IVA does this mean you have to stay on it for the full term or can you leave it if you find another solution?

I appreciate what your saying ginger , but I have been paying into the lgps for the last 14 years and I will also recieve an army pension at 60 so I will probably be ok

I had a private pension I was paying into and my IP made me freeze this , does anyone know if it is possible to surrender the funds in this and pay off some of my debts with it?

Spoke to a solicitor yesterday because I am starting the ball rolling on my divorce, and she advised that I can share the debts with my wife as they were joint debts and not just mine, we are amicable about all of this at the moment but I think this is going to stir up a Hornets nest.
