I was honest too...mine was just too young and stupid really. My bank offered me a loan of £5k with protection, I was only earning £6k at the time and then they go give me a credit card with £1800 limit...then I consolidated them, then got another card and so on...the money was there and I spent it....

Hi, I called all my creditors, below, but in the end none of them reduced their rates...so they lost out really... Egg BOS Northern Rock Virgin (MBNA) I even went to Northern Rock (biggest creditor) to explain my situation, told them I was already paying them £265 a month and if they could help me b...

Hi Jonesy...i'm quite happy to put you in touch with the people that sorted out my IVA....they talked to me about my expenses and even added a little extra here and there just in case I had missed anything. The guy I spoke to was really helpful and we had two or three conversations before I sent all...

Hi, first of all if your paying £600 a month this will equate to £36,000 over the 5 years so more than you owe now. If you're 100% sure an IVA is for you then I don't see why an IVA would be rejected as I guess the return will be near the 100% less whatever your IP is charging. I would say hoepfully...

Hi, I'm not sure of the answers to all your questions but my IVA was approved with me paying £40 a month in to my pension, £15 to my own life insurance, £11 for income protection and also paying some money to my partner for the use and running of her car (as I had an accident a couple of years ago a...

Hi, not an expert but think as you have so much equity then an IVA isn't an option or you would be required to take some of that equity to make a settlement to your creditors if not pay it all off...Good luck and I'[m sure Melanie will give you the accurate answers!

Hi, First of all if you are offering £600 pm as payment, then over 5 years you will have paid back £36,000...this being more than you owe...why are you taking out and IVA? You should reconsider your repayment and discuss with your IP. Have you included all your expenses? In mine I have included expe...

I'm about to be paid a bonus, which I did make my IP aware before my IVA and I was told that usually 50% of a bonus is paid in to the IVA so to keep the incentive of earning one high. It should be £2k. I have now been told that my IVA was approved with modifications that any windfall over £500 will ...

Thanks Melanie...do you think IVA's are being sold as the best solution for people in debt? I see lots of companies in the papers and banners on websites advertising a solution to debt by clearing 75% of it and being debt free in 5 years...surely this isn't good for the public or the banks?
