Today I received a letter from Mackenzie Hall. When I rang them I was told that it was concerning my old Kay's catalogue account. This was paid and cleared in 2004 at the latest. I firmly, but politely told the clerk this, and also stated that since the last payment was no later than 2004 and no deb...

Give the new account details to your Payroll team tomorrow. The more time they have to update your details the better. I know that our salaries are only finalised two days before payment, so as long as they have at least a week you should be safe. Another option is to ask if you can be paid by chequ...

Don't worry Red. I struggled for about five years before entering an IVA. The IVA was the best thing I could do. I have learnt to budget and now see where the money is coing from and going years into the future. Debt can happen to anyone, it only takes one small thing to go wrong and it grows from t...

Having completed my IVA in 2010 I applied for a Vanquis card in June 2011. My credit limit has just been increased from £500 to £1250. I only use it for pre-budgeted purchases and pay the balance before the due date. I also avoid transactions which attract fees. I am aware that it would be very easy...

If I were paid anything other than monthly I would have used my annual pay divided by twelve to give the monthly figure.

Seven years ago I was in the same position.

By the time my IVA was agreed the total was £110,000.

It will be alright, just grit your teeth and wait.

My IVA was completed in June 2010 with the certificate being issued in August 2010. In October 2010 I applied for a Vanquis card and was refused. I re-applied in June 2011 and was issued a card with a £500 limit. I have used this card for some spending which would otherwise have gone on my debit ca...

When I received the call to tell me that my IVA was approved I was asked for my salary payment date (16th) and the standing order was set up for the 20th to ensure that the money was there. Because the IVA was approved on the 28th the first payment was on the 20th of the next month. Your IP will ens...

I took holidays every year during my IVA.

These were funded by savings from allowances and by selling items on eBay.

I never thought to clear this with my IP.

We are not asked to surrender our passports when entering an IVA so obviously foreign travel is not forbidden.

While I am not defending the IPs, it may be that the creditors are bringing pressure to bear so that payrises are notified immediately and they receive every possible penny they can squeeze out. I was with PayPlan and I was never asked to pay any extra from my payrises, which happened just after the...

If you were not in the IVA but still had the debts and were still paying them normally would you have used the inheritance to pay some of the debts? If so then the situation is no different. Being in the IVA does mean that interest is frozen, charges can not be added and there are no threatening let...

Surely, if Frenchie is in an IVA then Cash Genie are bound by the terms of the IVA and are not permitted to take such payments in respect of the debts incorporated in the IVA.

I would pass this to the IP immediately since Cash Genie appear to have breached the terms of the IVA.

My IVA was completed in June 2011 with the completion certificate arriving at the end of August. I applied for a Vanquis card in October 2011 and I was turned down. I re-applied in June 2011 and was accepted. Because I now plan almost all purchases in advance I am able to pay all items before the st...

Fees on my IVa were 20% + VAT.

You can be sure that your creditors are happy with the level of fees agreed; do not worry abou this.
