I am assuming the irony of all the usual posters saying how they struggle to buy food for the month suddenly have no issue spending 10k on a new car it's highly illogical from a financial stance point of view. The argument some people NEED a car has been met but noone NEEDS to spend 10k on one and i...

Paul as skippy and nepensioner have pointed out you're an adult if you are desperate for a car and don't want to wait 10 months but rather spread the cost then feel free. I had debt in my name for someone else who died of a heart attack at the age of 22 and I won't be taking any agreements out for a...

Skippy happy to disagree on this one my advice to any other people reading this thread would be to in the future post IVA always try their best to live in front and not through finance as much as you can. A loss of job, redundancy , loss of regular overtime and such like situations can quickly chang...

Rose I genuinely hope your husband respects your wishes and doesn't take out anymore. I don't know if you are good with finances but taking an active interest in them with him will definitely ease your mind and not feel ignorant of your joint finances. Do you not receive any benefits for travel if y...

Yes but Paul on a year you could save up for a decent car to replsce the temporary one without having to resort to finance of a large amount is my point. Not how long the car will last. If you speak to a debt advisor the frame of mind that they want for you is to always be in front. In this case a s...

Glad you do skippy. Was simply referring to your previous post where you say a car is a necessity for some and not a luxury. I am pointing out that a 10k car IS a luxury and not a necessity I am not telling you what to do its quite apparent you have made up your mind already but people come on here ...

Yes you can live there but he would have to be credit worthy for the whole of the rent and bills through the letting agent and he would have to declare you living there for council tax purposes so he doesn't get the 25% discount wrongly. Only he would be protected by the rental agreement and likewis...

Rosepetal people's IVA contributions can vary from 100 to thousands of pounds a month if you're on a 600 a month IVA Within 5 months of being free of it I could have 3k saved up to buy a car with no finance. People will have different circumstances but if your disposable income is extremely low then...

I am sure you will make your own choices nepensioner but if you are already retired you don't have the luxury of overtime/bonuses to try and get yourself back on your feet if your finance goes wrong so please be careful I am only saying this cause I care

I agree we are all adults nepensioner and yes the decision people make post IVA will be down to them but I personally won't watch everyone telling someone to take out a 10k finance plan straight after finishing an IVA before they've had a chance to build up any savings or contingency should a rainy ...

There are plenty of cars that will last a year well within the modest 2k mark I know cause my dad has only ever had one new car which he paid for in full with no interest. 10k of finance for a new car as one of you has suggested is ludicrous so soon after getting out of debt I am sorry but it's a fa...
