Hi and welcome. Am sure one of the experts will be along soon but basically you pay into an IVA and disposable income so if you earn more money from your job and your out goings remain the same the IVA would take the extra. If your having a baby and your expenses go up but your income is to remain t...

Hi Declan, Thanks for the reply you did actually pick up on this on Friday for me and one of your team rang and spoke to me and then followed up with me this morning. On Friday I didn't have the option of any lump sum so a potential payment break was suggested to me this morning, when I offered the ...

DFD have said an offer of around £3k could be put forward but I just don't think I can raise the extra £1000 from the offer of £2k that a family friend offered does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, I have just done my fourth review with DFD and they always send my original one which is miles away from where I am now. I always keep a copy of the old ones so I can compare with the previous year. I normally send a covering letter back in with mine along with copies of my bills that explains m...

Having talked through my position with a couple of family members one of them has said they might be able to offer me £2,000. Do you think there would be any likely hood of them accepting this as a full and final or am I way out of the ball park? Obviously at £275 for another 22 payments I would pay...

At the moment I have been self employed as I had enough work to maintain myself. Without this main contract I would end up being a mixture of both. Will this make a difference

I am obviously on the case of trying to find a new position but I suppose my problem is that my wage previously was in a higher bracket so its harder to get a position I can just walk into. I think I will be temping for a while as I try to find something new. Luckily the landlord of the property as ...

Thanks for all the replies have spoken to DFD and they have said they will put my circumstances to my supervisor next week however it seems that a payment break may well be out of the question as I have used up that free life by having the variation a year in as if I now have a break I will go over ...

Hi Andy Do you really think their is a chance they would go for that? As I put in my post I do have just short of two years left due to applying for a variation a year in. To be fair when I got my annual report from DFD a couple of months ago despite paying a fair chunk in over half had been swallow...

As far as I think your IVA is based on your disposable income if you are living/married to someone obviously the house hold bills etc would be shared so you would potentially have more disposable incomefor the IVA.

Thanks for your kind words I am just dreading ringing them and being told bankruptcy is the way forward as I have struggled and scrapped through to pay for the IVA and I will be just gutted if it fails. To have the worry of it on top of finding a new job is just a nightmare

Hi James, I split with my partner in the second year of my IVA and it is in my name. Firstly it really grated on me as he had helped rack up some of the debt in my name and then just floated off into the sunset debt free but thats just me being bitter. I managed to get a lodger to live with me and m...

Hi, My understanding of an IVA is it is an individual arrangement so the amount paid back is not dependent on the debt but the circumstances. If your net pay of £1800 does not include the petrol then this less your outgoings of £981 leaves you with £819 which by rights could all be claimable via you...
