On this subject, would an IVA allow for any money to be set aside to visit family abroad once per year? So a holiday in a sense but my situation is that my wife's family live in Russia - to not see them for 5 years would be inhumane... but would an IVA consider this any different from a holiday?

Good advice Melanie.. The agent felt the house was worth more than £250K but due to the stamp duty threshold advised it would achieve that figure. I will get another 2-3 valuations before deciding, not quite sure how to get a 'forced sale' valuation from an unsuspecting estate agent but will make su...

Hi, Would a house valuation be used as part of agreeing an IVA. Bought my house 2 years ago for £250K with a £210K interest only mortgage. Planning an IVA for £45K worth of unsecured debt. I had imagined the house would be worth about £220K but have just had a valuation of £250K.... So, technically ...

Thanks All.... one last question - I have never defaulted on any of my loan / credit card payments, am juggling them until the IVA is put together. I am wondering, will this actually work against me in getting my creditors to accept the IVA as they have not seen any previous payment problems?

Hi, At the end of an IVA, if the valuation shows there is some equity, but it cannot be released (i.e. unable to secure the new mortgage based on credit history / lending ratio etc), would I be forced to sell the property? I am about to commence the process to enter into an IVA and this is the only ...

Thanks for the advice. We have only been married for a year and did not live together before that, so it is very easy for me to demonstrate that she has demonstrated from the majority of the debt. Also, her income will halve in 6 months when she begins maternity leave - would this be accounted for ...

Hi, I have done some extensive research on this subject as I believe that an IVA could be right for me. However, so far I am struggling to find an advisor to answer general questions, such as: 1. One of my unsecured debts (credit card) is with the same bank as my mortgage. As I don't want to lost my...
