Rather than take up an existing thread with messages of sympathy for the sad loss of Gary Speed today, I thought it would be nice for those on the forum to have their own "book" of remembrance as they say .....

RIP Gary - I met you once and you were such a lovely lovely man - my thoughts go to your wife and two sons - may they gain strength from the messages they receive from around the country in honour of their husband and father - a great man who did so much for his profession and country !

I heard the sad and shocking news just as I was approaching The Liberty Stadium today. Words cannot describe how everyone was feeling.

A man who meant so much to Welsh football. Thoughts go to his family and friends who must be in shock and totally devasted. I hope you find peace Gary[:(]

The minute silence before Liverpool's game today was for Gary Speed who felt the need to take his own life and for the 6 year old son of Liverpool goalie Brad Jones who had no choice and succumbed to Leukemia, both very sad.

RIP guys.
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

Why do it Gary? Such a waste of a life.

A 14 year old girl I know died suddenlylast week(intracerebral hemorrhage) and was buried yesterday, life is precious so for me I am afraid I shall never understand why one would feel the need to throw it all away!!!

RIP

Paul

I just feel sorry for those left behind - will never condone suicide.

Yes, a total waste of life. But from Gary's perspective, he must have seen it as the only alternative. We are lucky to be able to think rationally (most of the time) however, in the depths of despair things look very different.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I think I'll leave this one alone as I can never imagine going down that route.

Those of you on my Facebook will know that I was shocked beyond belief when I found out yesterday. The guy was my team's manager this time 12 months ago, also a player and coach before that. I didn't know him myself, but I know people who did. We have a home game in the FA Cup this weekend, it's going to be heartbreaking beforehand [:(]

I know people have their opinions on suicide etc and no doubt something will come out in the wash, but some of us on here have had our moments of desperation with our debt - would you believe yesterday was actually the 3rd anniversary of when I phoned and got my DMP set up.
Final payment 1st April 2016.
Completion Certificate received 19th May 2016.

Skeef143, I'm sure your match will be as emotional as ours was on Sunday. We had less than an hour to kick off after hearing the news and it was surreal. Big John Hartson left the stadium as soon as he heard.

We really wanted Gary to be our manager and it almost happened, but your club wouldn't give permission to talk. Not long after he became the manager of Wales and what a cracking job he was doing too.

Whatever the reason behind this, a dad, son and husband has gone.....so sad.[:(]

As a Everton Supporter who watched Gary play for his Boyhood heroes for too short a time,I still can't believe the news of yesterday. He was the ultimate example of how to be a Footballer. RIP Gary once a Blue always a Blue!
