Hi I was wondering if somebody could help me...

I took out an iva in May 2009 and completed it via a full and final payment in July 2012. I have been taken off the insolvency register and the iva has been marked as completed on my credit file...where my confusion lies is in the defaults...

My creditors were made up of alliance and Leicester, natwest and RBS.

Alliance and Leicester no longer shows on my credit report however RBS and natwest still show. Each month both companies up date the record to say the account is defaulted...is this normal? The initial default date on the creditors shows as May 2009 however my confusion lies in them updating the account each month still marking it defaulted?!

Do I need to write to them to advise them of my iva date and it has been paid via a f&f (have completion certificate) or do I leave it until the 6 year mark as the initial default date is correct?!

Many thanks!

If your IVA commenced in 2009, it will be 2015 before defaults clear from your record (six years from start date). Creditors shouldn't default you past the start date .... You could write to them and ask them to remove the incorrect dates ..enclose a copy of your certificate of completion as this will show both start and end dates.

My IVA was completed almost 2 years ago in March 2012, since then it has been an absolute nightmare cleaning up my credit file.
My understanding was that everything dropped off a credit file after 6 years, don't you believe it, it has taken me months to convince Experian that my IVA was complete, I also had to personally contact a number of my creditors to get them to remove default information which should have been removed automatically.
To cut a long story short, don't assume that your credit file will automatically put itself right after 6 years, check with the credit reference agencies and contact any creditors who are still showing out of date information.
On the plus side you have satisfied your IVA, great feeling isn't it??
IVA COMPLETED ON THE 17th MARCH, FINAL I&E COMPLETED 26th APRIL, COMPLETION CERTIFICATE ARRIVED 2nd AUGUST
