Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me?

I am looking for a broker who can help me find a mortgage. I have completed an IVA in October 2007 and it no longer shows on my credit file. Got turned down twice in Feb 2010 by Nationwide and Halifax at the final underwiters stage after paying for the valuation. My Experian credit file was perfect until Nationwide and Halifax carried out 5 full searches, 3 alias searches and 4 other generic searches in the space of 3 weeks. They have not searched either Equifax or Callcredit. The broker I used did not mention my IVA becuause he said it was over 6 years old and no longer showing on my credit file. I have since found out this is incorrect. He didn't really do much background work and for some reason submitted 2 applications through Nationwide and said I should apply for a Nationwide credit card as well? Anyway, all got declined and we lost the house. We had a good deposit of 30% and I have good earnings and was originally offered much more than we needed by both banks during the application process.
We now have managed to get our hands on a larger deposit due to a gift from a family member and have £76000 for a house up to about £190000. (40% deposit).
We really need to move soon as our landlord wants to sell we dont want to be moving to another rental. Also, we want to move to an area with better schools for our daughter.

Can someone recommend a specialist broker who can help us?

Barry.

Barry

If you e-mail me directly I can recommend a couple of firms that may be able to help.

We got turned down for our 1st mortgage because I didnt realise that whilst I got quotes online 3 mortgage firms were actually carrying out a credit search!!

When we went into our local Tsb they informed us of several seaches which looked shady on our files, and when I explained what I had done the nice man managed to over-rule the computer!!

Its far too easy for nasty markers/footprints to end up on our credit files.

Paul
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Hello Melanie.

Thanks for this. I can't seem to find your email address so I completed an enquiry form via your website.

Regards,

Barry.

Hi Barry I'm sure Melanie will pick it up from there. All the best x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
