Looks like he wants to try to set up an IPA! I worked out we had about £4 left per month! I did not realise that Child Benefit has now stopped for my oldest child so we really have less now!!!

I have managed to really cut back on things and we now break even with our I&E. But I have factored in the running costs of a cheap car, but it looks like now the OR is going to try and make us have an IPA and NO CAR!!!

How can this be?? We live about 4 miles from the school, (outskirts of town, no direct bus route) my husband is on call 24 hours per day and has 2 factories to attend, these are 15 miles apart!!!!!!!!!

I honestly thought we would be allowed an old banger at least, now he will give his job up if we cannot have a car, he has been there 20 years!

WE ARE SO UPSET THIS MORNING, I seriously contemplated suicide now, this is all my fault!!

Jane, I know it's easy for me to say as I am not in your situation but please take a few deep breaths and calm down. As Andy says, post the contents of your letter and someone on here will be able to help you.

Please don't think of suicide - the OR is not there to push you over the edge. You have come so far, and this is just a blip, and one that can be sorted out. Your husband and children need you - you are a good person, and although it might not seem like it at the moment you are now on the home straight.

It says we have to fill in an I&E questionnaire, even tho I already did this on the Statement of Affairs!

The letter states not to include my prescription charges as I am on benefits, but I told him TWICE, that I do not receive ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!

What does the letter say about the car?

I would suggest that before you complete the form that you ring the OR on Monday and explain that, regarding the prescriptions, you do not receive any help, and also to ask why you need to fill in another I & E form. They are not ogres, and they are there to help you.

Jane

Its understandable that youre upset today, its been a long haul for you and you are thinking of the worst. With what you have already been through, youre on panic mode.

I know its easy for me to say, I am not going through what you are, I did have these feelings in the beggining and I understand that life is so hard right now you feel its not worth it.

As Skip has said youre life is very important to your husband and your children, how on earth would they manage without you? I know you dont want to hurt anyone, you just want the situation to go away.

I also understand how alone you feel right now, Jane, please, you must believe in life enough to keep trying. I urge you to talk to the Doctor as soon as possible.

We can only reach out so far.

Post the letter and perhaps one of the experts can talk through it with you.

Please take care.

Oh Jane bless you...i really can understand how you feel, I suffer with bad nerves and need to take medication every day...if you are feeling this low you really need to go and see a doctor.

I know it is easy to say but it is only money at the end of the day and your life and health is much more important! As the guys say post the contents of the letter and i am sure someone will be able to help you out this must be a mistake surely cause if your husband doesn't have a car then he can't work therefore you will be unable to pay nothing back to your creditors!!! I think you should speak to your OR on Monday and see what they say...like the other guys say they are human at the end of the day and must understand what you are going through.

Take care xx

Jane

The Official Receiver generally allows quite generous expenditure, and obviously if there has been a mistake over your benefits then there has been a genuine mistake. Call their office on Monday and ask for a meeting so that you can sort all of these points out in a sensible manner.

OR said we cannot have a Xmas fund so I have put it under contingency, there is also school trips x 2 over the year, which amount to quite a bit! And annually I have to pay for a vet check-up and vaccinations for 2 cats, WHERE DO I FIND THIS MONEY?

I have worked out that the school is 4 miles away from my house (no direct bus route), that’s a minimum of 16 miles per day I will have to walk!!!!, husband’s work is about 3 miles away. Then when my eldest starts at uni, she is going on the bus but she will arrive back in our town at about 6pm, in the winter it will be dark and it is not safe for her to walk about 2 miles up to our house, so I will have to walk down to meet her to walk back together!!!! Aaaaarrrhhhh!!!!!!! I will be very fit at the end of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the list I have sent the OR: 2 adults, one 18 year old student, one 15 year old and one 11 year old.

gas/elec 70
bt 45.5
water 75
counciltax 117
mymobile 5
shopping 545
rent 575
Fonemobile OH 35
clothes 100
hair 20
tvlicence 11.61
catfoodlitter 28
taxcredit 50
contentsins 7
catinsurance 19
contingen 15
dentist 5
eyetest 8
petrol 80
cartax 15
carins 50
carmaint 30
TOTAL 1906.11

earnings
1809.87 wage
120.8 child benefit

I fear the Or wants to disallow the car running costs so he can have the IPA. If that happens, I don't know what will happen regarding my husband and his job!!!!!!!!

I believe that you will be allowed to keep the car and that there will be little adjustment to your expenditure.

Let us know how you get on.
