Hi everyone I made my first move and made a phone call to Andy Davies yesterday. I've been reading this forum for weeks now and have wanted to take the plunge. The difficulty I now have is my husband, he's in denial and twice as scared as I am as he thinks we will lose the house. We are around 40,000 in debt paying only the minimum payments and I know we'll never pay it off. We got into this mess following a house move. We bought the house and decided to have an extension. we had numerous problems and consequently ended up where we are today. We both work and have 2 children and just argue over money all the time. Here's hoping to an end all this frustration that's destroying our family life. So here I am taking the plunge into the IVA rather than of a building, for now anyway. Please help me along the way as you have already been doing. Good luck to you all too. xx

Hi there. I ended up in a very similar situation to you and because of the same reasons. Houses! Only mine was due to renovations which didnt give us the profit we thought it would, lots of other things too but that was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. I am now only two months away from financial freedom having been in my iva since august 2006, its taken me longer as had 6 months added in leiu of equity and then some payment breaks etc. I hope that your husband comes round to your way of thinking as I also was the initiator of our iva, my husband also thought there was another way. The sooner you realise youre in trouble the better as then you can sort it out. I have never looked back and yes it has been hard but definitely worth it. I know my little ones are going to be better off in the long run too with parents who arent financially crippled!!! I wish you all the best hun in your decision and hope you feel better about things soon xxx[:)]

Hello,

Your feelings are totally normal, we've all been there, including Andy!

You will probably have to try and release some equity from your house in the fourth year but if you can't then the IVA is normally extended by 12 months.

Andy is a great advisor and he will sort things out for you.

Keep posting and you will get great support and advice on here.
