mattyboy - there's nothing we can do about the bonuses so we just have to bite the bullet and carry on as we are.

I wouldn't be paying for an account though unless there was no other option. I have better things to spend the money on!!

beresford - did you actually speak to the Co-op ? All their accounts on-line are not for IVA participants. YOu have to go into a branch or ring them and ask for a cashminder account (speaking from experience!!). When I opened my account I was open about going into an IVa and they said it was not an issue at all, neither is bankruptcy.

You can't do a cashminder online - only on the phoneor in branch.

I only applied online which is probably why I was declined, although it was years ago when I was going through the initial process of applying for my IVA and it seemed to me that I was being declined a basic account from YBS and Co-op just because of my credit, which is rally unfair. There was a third mainstream bank account I applied for but can't remember who they were but they declined me too and that was an over the phone application. Was desperate and got in touch with Think as a last resort. Now glad I have an account with them. Like herbekj, I'll also be keeping my account via Thinkbanking when I complete IVA in November. I have a debit mastercard with them and am happy to pay monthly fee for service, a service which I never got with my basic bank account provider prior to signing up to IVA.

Herbekj, I don't think our RBS accounts via Thinkbanking will be affected by the restrictions set out in the the BBC news article.
Last payment made on 1st Nov 2011. Happy to be debt free!
