The procedure didn't go ahead unfortunately, as the " expert" consultant radiologist wasn't in. However he has kindly rang me to explain the procedure and that i must be nil by mouth. I wasn't yesterday.Apparently it's quite a specialised procedure and takes a bit of time, and he will access my ateries via my neck all the way down to my groin.I'm glad in one way that the right man for the job will be doing it though not at all looking forward to a walloping great catheter with all manner of gear stuffed into it going through my neck. Ouch, sedation please.I'm in no pain and have to wear a rather fetching pair of draws until then, i will say no more. #13;#10;#13;#10;Sorry there is no more of an outcome as yet. Going to friends for the weekend#13;#10;#13;#10;

Hi quark
I am assuming you are having an angiogram/angioplasty. Hubby had to have 3 stents via the same procedure. He is the biggest wimp walking and his description of it was that it was really interesting and he was fine. he has been well and feels great as i am sure you will also. so try not to worry. Hubby had this after a heart attack so much better to catch it and sort it quickly.
All the best you will be fine. Waiting is the worst bit, terrible to be cancelled but it does happen. Hopefully you will be sorted asap.
all the best

Good luck Quark.

I hope everything goes well, I am sure it will. I have seen these done through the femoral. They will take care of you, I bet you'll be glad when its all over though, eh?

it does seem a bit odd to go the subclavian route rather than femoral, rather a long way down. I'm sure he knows what and why. I've had a central line in before so i guess it will feel like that.

It may be because of the compromised renal, the ones I have seen all involved below illiac. He will know what he is doing, no doubt. He is a vascular, yes??. My debt was more on the restoring side of things like trying to revitalise necrotic digits etc.

radiology, urology and vascular will be in the cath lab. In lay mans terms i have large bilateral varicose veins in the inguinal canal and an incompetent valve branching off from the renal thing, i have hypertension and high cholesterol that is poorly controlled by statins and anti hypertensives. urine showed ++ blood in it so i guess a prolonged period of untreated hypertension may have put my kidneys under some strain.
