Are there any insurance brokers who may be able to help me obtain public liability insurance for my part time nail work, its more of a hobby than anything but I need to cover myself, I am not currently insured as noone will cover me, even though its £49 for a whole year which is payable upfront and I am unlikely to be the person making a claim on this so don't really understand the logic to not insuring me, im no more risk for this type of insurance I wouldn't have thought. I have contacted someone who will email the underwriters to get a decision and get back to me next week but I have been refused by a few people now! :(

I have another client who is a nail technician - I will ask her who she insures with and let you know.

Is the reason they won't insure you due to the IVA?

Thanks Mel if you could please ask I would be grateful.

Yes, they just say because my IVA is current they wont insure me. Can't really understand that attitude as I am not asking for credit (would pay upfront) and also I wouldn't think myself as the insurer is likely to be an increased risk on a public liability policy??

I've asked her - and she says that there is a company called Professional Beauty that you can use, but they tend not to touch anyone within the first 12 months of entering into an IVA. As you have passed that point, they are probably worth a call.

Try Hiscox.
My opinions are just that: Based on my experience and being a self-employed IVA customer.
