Hi all,
I'm in the process of setting up an iva, i've sent all my bank statements, credit card bill etc to my ip, however i'm having trouble proving my bills such as rent, council tax etc. i live with my partner who has all the household bills in thier name, i just give cash every month towards them. i am in the process of separating from my partner and do not want them to know i am trying to do an iva, my ip is requesting proof of me paying rent etc as i've put it down on my I&E. Does anyone have any advice on what i should do or say to my ip? is an Iva still an option for me?

Many thanks

You could try and explain the situation to your IP but they will need some proof of rent etc. When you separate will you be paying more rent and council tax,as this is information that your IP needs to know now rather than in 3 months time??

Not much help I am afraid.

If you are separating from your partner, is one of you going to be moving out of the property? If so, your current costs are rather useless to the IP, who ought to be more concerned as to what your future costs are likely to be.

yes i will be leaving home so will be finding somewhere else to live, i will hopefully be able to rent a little flat or something, so if i explain all this to my ip will my iva be calculated on what will happen in a few months time? should i wait till i have left to do my iva? don't know what to do, creditors calls coming thick and fast, feel like my head is going to explode soon

If you are going to be moving out soon, I would personally base the budget in your IVA on the new costs rather than existing ones - but your own IP may have a different strategy, so best to speak to them directly on this point.

Remember that if you are renting somewhere new and in an IVA you may well either fail a credit check or require extra deposit. Lots of people do manage to find rented accomodation but dont be surprised if you get knocked back by some agencies.

Anything you are unsure of just ask away. Mention the site to the IP as well so he knows that you will check up anything he has said. Which firm are you using??

It really is a great site, and without it,many of us would still have our heads buried in the sand waiting for our debts to just sort themselves out!!

I only found this site by googling Mercers and up it came.

I've never looked back.
