Hubby's excempt because of his epilepsy and I'm very rarely poorly, being a mum I ain't got time to be bad!!! lol
I remember the times when it was one charge for the whole prescription and not each item....I think it's a disgrace but it's just another way to get money from us.
It's nice to be back......

Hows the foot kal???

Knew I shouldn't have mentioned free prescriptions......us other countries do pay taxes too you know and don't depend on others to pay for us. Without getting too political - the only people to blame are the politicians.. :(

I think you will find the only reason Scotland and Wales get Free Prescriptions and also free NHS Car Parking at Hospitals is because my English taxes pay for it. Damn unfair!!!!
Us kilt wearers arent getting free prescriptions just yet but they have gone down in price,we use the extra money to help feed our pet haggi!!!(plural of haggis). Oh and the free parking is only at a couple of hospitals,my sister in law pays £26 a week to park at a scottish hospital!!!
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Not at all ang.
To be honest the exemption hasnt been reviewed for many years in fact since in was brought in. I think it was designed for those with long term illnesses which required medication for life. The list is very short and needs extending .
I think it is daft that I get everything free because of my thyroid and my husband pays yet he is on heart tablets for life too .
I agree if the government health minister is reading the forum lol ( well you never know) revise the prescription exemption.

i think we should get it free anyway.. we all pay enough into it.. tell the NHS fat cats to take a paycut.. sure that would free up enough spare funds[V]

Aguise, I agree that the exemption list should be longer. My husband also takes heart tablets and has done for more years than I care to remember. OK he is an old git now and so doesn't pay, but it has cost us a lot over the years, even with a prepayment certificate.

Whilst I agree that all prescriptions should be free, I cannot see that happening in England. At the risk of being controversial, and I don't want to offend anyone, should the people whose conditions on the exemption list be getting ALL their prescriptions free? I agree that long term conditions should be free, but one off prescriptions which are nothing to do with that? Should they pay for these?

Again, apologies if I have offended anyone.

Snap Michael - I take 5 as well! Also got a prepayment, but I pay for mine monthly. Always used to do it for 12 months (on a credit card usually), but now it's monthly.

Wouldn't be without mine. Even if you budget for your normal tablets then anything else pushes the cost way up. This way you don't have to worry about a thing no matter how many pills you take.
