Following on from Ray a's post a couple of months ago on the Post Office Christmas Savings Club, a few more details as I know lots of people were interested in this:

You can pay your savings into the club at any Post Office branch whenever and wherever you want

You can join with a little as £5, save as regularly as you want, and your money will be there at Christmas when you need it.

You can then spend your club money in the form of One4all gift vouchers at 1,000s of participating high street stores including Woolworths, Sainsburys, House of Fraser, Comet, Mothercare, Debenhams, JJB, Argos, Halfords, River Island, and lots more

If you register before the 31st December you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 vouchers, to register for the savings club all you need to do is call 08457 22 33 44 and give your name and address and you will automatically be entered into the prize draw.

You can get more info in a leaflet available from your local post office

Not that I want to be thinking of Christmas 2008 yet, just need to make it though this one first!!!!
Happy Christmas[:)]

Thanks for the info Emma, I asked at my local Post Office and they looked at me as if I had drank too much Mulled Wine!!! I think it must be the main offices doing it?

Thanks

Hi spenmotherhen

I think they must have had too much mulled wine as on the leaflet it says ANY branch - they are calling it The People's Christmas Club.

Try the phone number 08457 22 33 44 as if you register before 31/12/07 you go into the draw to win £100 vouchers.

Hope you have some success!!!

Hi Emma

Thanks for this info - me and my husband are definitely interested, but a bit confused as you said you get vouchers. Can you not draw your savings out in cash?

Hi eh

I was really interested when I thought it was a cash savings scheme, but I picked up a leaflet and it says you pay in what you want, when you want and at Christmas you can then spend your club money at 1,000s of participating stores and then a bit about where you can spend eg; woolworths, dolcis, thorntons, debenhams, jjb, goldsmiths, comet, thresher, argos, river island, house of fraser, sainsburys, mothercare, halfords, peacocks and lots more

I am still thinking of opening one as it would help with food (sainsburys) and a few gifts.

I'm not so interested if I can't have cash! I'm going to buy Sainsburys savings stamps through the year to help with the food and I might buy another Bread card and load the money onto that for pressies - at least I can spend it where I want to!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

From the original article on bbc.co.uk

"Members can spend the proceeds via a pre-paid debit card, which will be accepted at more than 200 retailers, or by buying gift vouchers."

Haven't seen the leaflets so don't know if this has changed.

I will ring up tommorrow and ask as it mentions nothing about a pre paid debit card on the leaflet I have - I will post back tommorrow and clear this up for everyone

I have just phoned up and they can't give much information over the phone but confirmed savings will be paid in the form of vouchers NOT a pre-paid debit card.

They are a bit vague on other points but are going to send me an Information pack, will post more when I recieve this.

So would I ray, then I can start saving for Christmas, even though it sounds a long way from now i would rather be putting £30 a month away than having to find £50 from May or something.
