Dad...so many images come to mind

whenever I speak your name;

It seems without you in my life

things have never been the same.

What happened to those lazy days

when I was just a child;

When my life was consumed in you

in your love, and in your smile.

What happened to all those times

when I always looked to you;

No matter what happened in my life

you could make my gray skies blue.

Dad, some days I hear your voice

and turn to see your face;

Yet in my turning...it seems

the sound has been erased.

Dad, who will I turn to for answers

when life does not make sense;

Who will be there to hold me close

when the pieces just don't fit.

Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time

and once more hear your voice;

I'd tell you that out of all the dads

you would still be my choice.

Please always know I love you

and no one can take your place;

Years may come and go

but your memory will never be erased.

Today, Jesus, as You are listening

in your home above;

Would you go and find my dad

and give him all my love
Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.

He wouldn't appreciate that anyway as he's not the sentimental type1

I'm very lucky that both of mine are still going - well into their 80's now and a bit unsteady on their pins but other than that they're fine.

Big hugsxx
That was beautiful, I lost my mum 10 years ago at the young age of 41. I still feel the pain and think about her every day. We all just gotta make every moment count :)

A beautiful verse, my dad passed away 12 years ago this year and I still think of him and I'd certainly choose him again that's a fact x

Havent posted on this site for ages - but do read.

That is lovely - my Dad has just been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.

This poem brought me comfort when my mum passed:

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
