Hi skip

Only just catching up and I remmeber this from a training day I did, its a condition where the muscles become inflammed and in spasm, I know it can affect the head too and eyes. Its usually treated with quinine. I think it has an autoimmune element if I remember correctly. So after a virus could have triggered it off. I do hope your Mother feels better soon.

Good luck

Ah!!Skip, just caught up with this thread, hope your Mum feels better soon...never heard of Polymyalgia but from what Lily has written,it sounds awful..I would insist on going with her to the Docs on monday if I were you however stubborn she gets..my mum-in-law is the same age and she's just the same, fiercely independant and never wanting any help but she still has my dad-in-law who is also just the same[:(]..it looks like things are getting on top of her because of this flu-virus and the pain she's in,she must be feeling really depressed...Just been reading your blog and you actually made me cry,not good when I have the lurgycold.[:)]..You're right, family and health are so much more important than anything else....let us all know how she gets on,won't you?..sending you a big hug!!..xx

Lily,..Tonic water has quinine in it doesn't it?..I remember when suffering with cramp, they recommended it..(if it's the same sort of pain, then I can truly sympathise)..xx

Thanks DM. Mum has promised me that she'll ask for a second opinion on Monday, and if she's still not getting any help I'll go with her after that.

I spoke to her this morning, and she's said she's feeling a bit better - she's still in pain, but she sounded much better than she's done for a while. Hopefully on Monday she'll get some answers - at least if she knew what she was dealing with it wouldn't seem so bad.

Thanks everyone for your support xxx
