Please Help. We sort of got bomboozled into an IVA,it wasn`t what we really wanted but we were desperate for help so agreed to it. Right from the start they have refused to put the correct figures down for our income /expenditure,but we`d agreed the repayment so stopped going on about it, then i got in touch with them earlier this year to tell them my husbands hours/wage had been cut & we just couldn`t afford the repayments anymore, he started going through our expenditure & NONEof the figures he gave were correct..even things like council tax & water rates had been changed,he said he`d amend them & send me the form to sign for reducing payments by £3o...when the form came,it was completely wrong, they`d allowed us ZERO for shoes, clothing, repairs, milk & 2cats & only £250 for food, toiletries, household etc....my daughter is 9years old,she is GROWING, she NEEDS shoes & clothes... .we`re scared to stop paying in case they take our home or worse, but we can`t afford to live if we do pay...oh,& my daughter has just been referred to a paediatrician as her foot isn`t growing right with being in the wrong size shoes..she has 1foot a full size bigger than the other & she`s in shoes that are a size smaller...please,please help!!!

Hi worried mum, I can imagine why you're worried. The figures did ought to reflect a true income/expenditure or you will struggle, Do you know if you have spoken directly to your IP or to one of their staff?

What company are you using? (I understand totally if you'd rather not say).

IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi and welcome.

Agree with Lesley - you need a review of your income and expenditure as you are clearly struggling and those figures aren't good at all.

Speak to your IP and insist on a review.

Hi worried Mum & welcome to the forum from me,

A review of your income & expenditure can be done at any time, not just at annual reviews. I set off out on a unrealistic I&E at the start of our IVA & I can totally understand how you are feeling.
Please get onto your IP they are there to support you through your IVA.

Let us know how you get on, we are here to support you too x
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

]Hi Lesley(&others) & thank-you for replying...i assume we are with harrington brooks, tho it states on the iva that the ip is from one advice,& it started with a call from the money group.the problem is that there is no point in asking for a review when they refuse to put the correct information in & are just juggling the figures to get to what they want it to be..for example, they say my council tax is £85..it has never been that amount!(actually £102,they`ve allowed £50 for electric when it is nearer £80...we also have a £200+gas bill that they won`t add on to the debt,& we`re on the very edge of our overdraft...they are not interested in helping us at all,+we`ve only just found out that the money we`ve been paying, less than half of it is coming off our debt,..it`s mostly going to harrington brooks/one advice...is there any way of either getting out of the iva or changing to someone who actually has our interests at heart?? TY

You have to ask for a review! If you don't then your IVA is doomed failure just as it has started.

You can email him/her direct via this link:

http://bl.insolvency.gov.uk/fip/

All of this sounds wrong - you should be able to put down what you spend on gas/electric and the bill should have been included if it was known about before the IVA.

I urge you to get on to your IP, you wont be able to continue through the IVA without a realistic review.
Again I understand where you are coming from we had allowances of 30 for electric & 30 for gas at the start of our IVA. I too had to demand a review & if it was not for this forum encouraging me to do so, our IVA would of failed along time ago.
You will be able to prove your energy bills get onto them send them in by recorded delivery.

I claim £83 and £87 for gas and electric and £150 for council tax, which is what I pay. They should not be able to argue with this.

My Gas is now 89 per month & electric is 49 per month, my council tax is 137 over 10 months. I also sent in proof of it all as back up when I had my review. An IVA will not work if you do not have a realistic I&E.

Please be brave & get onto your IP x

Hi - Harrington brooks are a reputable firm. I can only imagine them squeezing the allowances so tightly to make the IVA viable - do you mind me asking how much you pay per month? Still, it's not on to make you struggle like this. You said at the start that you didn't want an iva and only signed up in a panic...what alternative would you choose now? You can choose to fail the iva at any time and go for a DMP or BR. xx

Allowances should not be squeezed like this so that an IVA can go through, doesn't matter who the company are.

Did you try just putting in the name of the IP and not the company as well? If not, try that.

They shouldn't be but we see it on here often enough. My own ip wouldn't let me have an allowance for haircuts even though the dividend was about 70p/£! And it's only this year I'll be asking for anything for hobbies as It was ut out of my I&E and I didn't know i was entitled to anything (it'll pay for weight watchers lol). On another point, you can check the insolvency register for your own name and the IP will come up too in the details xx

I had to fight for allowances for school dinners/trips & haircuts. I got some of them but they are low ones. Still no allowances for childrens hobbies as in swimming lessons/football, Im managing to get them to football school, but only as my friend whom runs it fits me in when he is quiet for 50%/75% discount in the holidays.
For me personally things are not perfect but alot better than when we started out.
