It's not through yet, I'll keep an eye open for it.

I used to have a slow cooker when I was living on my own but I have a house hubby so he does all the cooking and my tea is sorted when I get home from work! It's brilliant!

Thank you everyone for your advice and hot tips! And I managed to sort fb too!

Im always cooking casseroles in the winter so I think I should check out ebay for a slow cooker - it must work out so much cheaper than having the oven on for 2 or 3 hours my boys are always hungry!

Rosepetal, thank you I do feel very vulnerable and low but trying to stay strong for the boys - they don't deserve this and I know things will start to look brighter soon so Im trying to remain strong.

Boys are out at the park now so I've had a much needed cry. Just can't keep holding it in. But I will get through this.

Hi tajsiva - I'm glad you're finding the forum a great help. It's been a wonderful support to me over the years and I'm sure it will to you too.

My hubby does all the cooking here, because I am useless!! He uses a breadmaker and slowcooker - fab meals appear, which are not so good for my waistline!

With everyone trying to save money these days, may be worth you checking out any local car boot sales for bargains.

Keep posting xx

Hi Julie

Thank you - I find it of enormous help and probably wouldn't have taken the IVA route if it hadn't been for the forum but would have been stuck in a dmp till I die instead!

You're so lucky to have your hubby cook for you - think I'll have to starting teaching my boys! lol.

I was thinking about car boot sales and also charity shops have really good quality things these days - so Im going to be checking those too.

Sausages and mash tonight... comfort food and then Saturday night tv with my boys... a real cosy night me thinks[:)]

just remember you're not alone. i think many people can feel very, very low in this situation, sometimes you need a cry, hug. your children are old enough to realise somethings the matter,we always want to shelter them but it might help them to know you're sorting things out- you are!

i priced slow cookers up on ebay but with p&p it was only a few pounds more to get a brand new one. can't remember if we got ours in Asda(own brand) or Argos. Argos have one, item 936/7847 £14.99. we're having chicken tikka made in ours tonight, smells yummy.

carboot sales would be a great place to look, small adds in local paper too. we have Freecycle in our area - do you? items are "offered" for re homing or "wanted" adds put on folk like you wanting a breadmaker etc - worth a go & items are meant to be free of charge. just google freecycle.

get yourself a nice cuppa, things are going to be ok x[;)]

The other thing as well if you need anything and can't afford it, is Freecycle. All you have to do is collect it.

You can also sell stuff on Ebay as well. I do that and I also buy a lot of cheap clothes off there as well.

Charity shops are a great idea - I bought a lovely dress from one recently..£3!! [:)]

It's our anniversary today and we're both off work for 2 weeks, so will be having a wine or 2 and hubby cooking a curry [:)] I've blown up microwaves in the past, so it's safer if hubby cooks [:D]

Sausage and mash..mmmm with onion gravy??

That reminds me of my days in digs, when microwaves were young. I thought I'd try to "boil" some eggs! Well ... I didn't know!!!
Anyway, they survived a couple of minutes in the microwave oven and waited until I had got them to the table before, literally, exploding and sending egg white and still runny yolk everywhere !!!!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Happy Anniversary Julie.

You can't beat sausage and mash and onion gravy - you'd love my hubby's. Daughter's fiance has to have a piece of bread to mop it up!

Rosepetal, that's a good idea if she is interested! I shall be sending off for my vouchers next month and that is Christmas pretty much sorted for stepkids.

ASDA has slow cookers on special this week £9, gave in to temptation and have to say they have come a long way in the last 20 years. Already made some mean meals!!
