Hi, My family do not know about my IVA and my parents have hinted that they may like to give me and my boyfriend some money to help us with moving out costs. Although it is not a definate thing,I have gone into panic mode because if my Dad wrote me a cheque for £1000 and I paid it into my account, would it be considered a windfall? If it was then am I right in saying that I would have to hand it all over to IVA and wouldn't be allowed to use it in the way my parents intended?

Hi Ruth,

Personally speaking I think this will just be classed as a gift from your parents and you can let your IP know that it will only be available to help you move house.

Hopefully one of the experts can advise further.

Thank you think I'll look through my Iva paperwork and see if anything is stipulated in there about gifts.
