Michael, I agree. I am the first to be of the opinion that some IPs are little scoundrels with no other motive for your business is your money. But some IPs are super. We should remember that. It's finding them in the first place that matters. Congratulations Helen

I'm still not clear on the facts of this post. Helen - had you already paid all of your debts in full before making the PPI claim, or did you only pay off the amount you had originally pledged into the IVA - so your creditors effectively just got a dividend rather than a full repayment?

Apologies if I am being thick!

Do you actually personally know any IPs who might be viewed as "little scoundrels" The Artist? I'm not asking you to name names, am just curious as to whether this comment is stilled in fact, or hearsay.

Hi Melanie...I paid 100p/£, so I paid my IVA debt off in full....I completed it early, 4yrs 8mths, rcvd my cert of completion in jan 2012......my legal and financial obligation to the iva was settled in full....this is why I was confused with the bank trying to with hold some of the money. I entered into the iva with the understanding that if I settled my iva I would be debt free...I think if I had just accepted the initial offer then I would have got £11.5k, however I complained and explained my situation and with the support of my IP they settled in full, prob to avoid a further claim at a later date....

I think the sensible decision was to pay in full, glad you persevered
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Perhaps Melanie, little scoundrels is a bit strong, given, momentarily, i confused them with PPI companies. In my opinion, and hopefully putting my opinion over properly, IPs do a great job. Payplan were brill for me and I personally know of others who are very pleased with their IPs. However, I maintain that, I find some PPI companies' techniques outrageous.

Helen - although there can have been no doubt that the money was not properly due to you, I am glad to see that with the intervention of your IP that you have received your money back. Are you planning something now hot and sunny with the proceeds?

Glad that we cleared that one up TheArtist!! There are also some very good PPI claim companies out there as well.

Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.
