ComeOnYouSpurs - You asked me to post the outcome with my IP of my increase in pay due to working nights as you do and receiving 'night allowance'. I am relieved to report that there will be no further increases to my monthly contributions due to payment of 'night allowance' and it is not subject to the 50% ruling either as I feared it would - So now I have a bit of breathing space until the next annual review! Thanks DFD !

Great news Pelder! A real "contingency" fund for you each month rather than a line on a balance sheet that invariably gets eaten up by other expenses that we aren't allowed to claim for in the I&E!!

Can I ask...... in what way have they decided that it is not subject to the 50% ruling? Are they treating it in a different way to overtime, bonus etc? And how will they be classing it from your next annual review?

Good news for the rest of your second year though, congratulations.

Somebody from DFD rang me this afternoon to inform me that they had received my wage slips and reviewed my case, then decided that because my basic pay was unaltered since the beginning of my IVA they regarded my pay as the same. When I asked her was the 'night allowance' payment subject to the 50% ruling she told me 'no' as my take home pay wasn't much different from before. I'm not complaining despite the fact that for the moment I am around £25 per week better off after tax - I asked no further questions!! I do feel however that my monthly payments of £622 were high to begin with and I had only recently paid to them £884 for the first 12 months of my 50% overtime and bonuses, so I think that they must have factored all of this into their decision!

A common-sense approach. Well done DFD and enjoy your "breathing space" Pelder.

Thanks COYS - Hope your IVA runs smoothly too - and I would genuinely like to see Spurs in the Champions League next season - I think that they can come 3rd or 4th in the Premiership this season....... (You need to do something about Gomez though!!)

Hope it continues that way!

Our payments haven't risen yet, despite payrises.

Don't work overtime though. My bank holidays I take as time off, not money.

I prefer it that way - more time at home!
