I am in the same situation as Katheryn, we want to start a family as soon as possible (as we are starting to get on a bit) but are terrified of the implications this may have and potentially meaning our IVA would fail.
It seems crazy that if we had had the baby prior to IVA it would have been accepted no bother and yet post IVA it could jeopardise things. In the latter scenario the creditors actually get more money.

Jan, in your experience will creditors authorise a variation for this?
Thanks

Sorry mole, I have no idea on that one. Hopefully one of the experts can assist.

Hi Kathryn, I have been in my IVA for 12 months now and my partner is expecting in January. Im just at present going through my 12 month review but on the whole DFD have been quite helpful. As Mel says you cant put your life on hold just because of an IVA. Good luck!

It is horrendously expensive to use childcare -especially for babies and under 2's as they are charged on a higher rate. The figure of £50 a day quoted is about what it is where I am.
I know what you mean there- I have thought about starting a family within the next couple of years, as I'm in my mid 20's now, but the cost of the average childminder (cheaper than nusery) where I live works out at around £490 a month- but without childcare, it makes it impossible to work full time, which then affects the overall money coming into the house- the IVA
