Hi,

I really need to start an IVA however I was made redundant a few months ago and am now in a long term temporay job (it will last until at least January or until I take up a new permanent job). Will I still be able to start an IVA even though I'm only 'temping'? I cannot find any info about this kind of situation.

Please can you help?

Many thanks,

There is no reason why you cannot propose an IVA on the basis of temping, however your IP will want to understand the certainty of your employment situation if this contract does not get renewed in January - ie how easy will it be for you to find replacement employment?

Hi,

You would just need to be aware that you would need to continue your payments for the duration of the arrangement therefore if you have no job in January how would you meet the payments? Please do think about this carefully before entering.

How much is your total debt? Do you own property? Sometimes debt management is an option until you have permanent employment as this is very flexible.

Kind Regards

Nicola

Hi
I think Nicolas advice is good because it would be sad to pay int your IVA for a year only for it to fail and you back at square one. However if you are confident of continuous employment then all should be well.

Hi s_I

I have been self employed for the last 20 years and have found temping for companies to be better and more long term. A good temping agency will always find you work if you are willing.
I also have an IVA

Adrian
