Hi all I`ve just joined this forum and am glad I found it. We have finally admitted we are in over our heads and have now started the process of the IVA road. We`ve sent everyhting to our case officer and now hope it doesnt take to long to get going. We haven`t told our creditors yet as we have only just moved our accounts and up until now have scrapped together the minimum payments but have then sold, begged or borrowed to get to payday. This month we have only made payments we CAN afford so we`ll soon start getting calls.
Someone please tell us we are doing the right thing?

Hi Chris and welcome to the forum.

Well done for getting yourself sorted out, hopefully you will get a meeting date soon.

Personally, I wouldn't make any payments to your creditors at all. It will make no difference to your creditor voting and will allow you to build up a bit of a contingency fund before the IVA starts.

If you do want to make payments then they should be pro rata across all of your creditors - you should not prefer one creditor over another.

You will get the phone calls and the letters - you can either choose to answer and explain what is happening or ignore them.

Hi and welcome to the forum from myself too. you've made the biggest move by firstly recognising you have a problem and secondly by sourcing a solution to the debt.

Do carry on posting for advice/support as needed as we're always here x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Oh well first hurdle. The wifes just informed me her work may not have processed her wages in time for the new account. Now have to wait 2 weeks and see were it end up.before our case officer can continue and contact our creditors as one of them is our old bank.
