My hysband plans to take out a IVA but we have been advised that my earnings will be taken into account as well and we need to have a joint IVA. I'm not happy at this as our financial affairs are separate, different bank accounts etc and credit cards etc.

i had a similiar thing, as i was going in to my iva, i met my current partner and she didnt want to get involved so we live in seprate houses till my IVA is concluded.

How ever from reading other post is, the view is taken as porbably as in you case, that you may of benefited from your husbands debts, ie as he paid for meals on the visa, borrowed money for house improvments etc etc. All they really need your salary foir is for example if your husband brings in 70% of the household income for example, they will allow him to pay 70% of the bills and you 30% or vice versa, this is to show he is paying is correct proporation and not paying too much as he must be shown to be doing the best for the creditors so they can get as much money back as possible

Hi Alison
If none of your debts are seperate, why have they said you need to enter the iva, as long as none are joint, as they would then pass to you if hubby enetered an iva. They would ask for your income as they would require that you pay your fair share of the household expenditure as James says.
