The only thing you can do right now is order your credit report from the 3 main credit reference agencies experian, equifax and call credit to see what does need correcting. Once you get your completion certificate that is when you can start cleaning up your files and ensuring the IVA is marked as completed there and removed from the insolvency register.

Don't believe any "score" a CRA gives. It's meaningless they are not the lender. Each lender has their own "scoring" criteria.

Getting a vanquis card may help, but I'd wait until you can ensure that the defaults are marked as satisfied and there is zero outstanding balance which can only be achieved with a completion certificate.

Personally I chose to wait, then applied to my current bank Lloyds TSB who declined me :-( and then to Barclaycard who accepted me :-)

I have got the 3 credit reports and have a 3 questions:
1. Equifax and Call credit have my IVA record showing 'Satisfied' and 'Discharged' but Experian still shows 'active'. It is still early days as my IVA only came off the IVA register this week. If it is still showing active with Experian in a few days, do I need to send them a copy of my CC?
2. Call Credit and Equifax have my IVA record as satisified but all the defaults are still showing unsatisifed. How do i now get these changed to satisfied? Don't understand why the CRAs didn't change these on receipt of my whatever they got to say my IVA was completed. Is it the lender I need to contact?
3. If i have a default registered after my IVA was started but the debt was passed to Max Recovery, is it Max Recovery or the original lender I contact to get it cancelled?

Cheers.

IVA finished Oct 2011, CC received 27 April 2012, No longer on Insolvency Register 01 May 2012. Jan 2013 - all Credit Files squeaky clean :)

1 Yes, very important that you do that.

2 You need to raise disputes, or use the standard letters found on this site http://www.iva.co.uk/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=183 to get the default dates corrected if need be, the balance updated to show no payment is due so zero outstanding balance and that the default is marked as Satisfied.

3 It is whoever put the default on your credit file, so if it's max you'll be fine as they know what their obligations are and will play ball. If it's a creditor they drag their feet.
